Viv tel 76700 takes both size eyepieces. There is a small sleeve in the eyepiece holder that reduces the size to .965in(cheap 2 element plastic pieces), take it out and use 1.25in( 4+ element glass) pieces and you will see better. This scope has many names on it, search 76700 telescope and you'll see.

SOURCE: how to use Power telescope 76700.

You will not find an instruction manual for that small telescope. However Meade maintains a web site for their telescopes. Look under REFRACTOR for one similar to your scope.

SOURCE: When I look through the

The only thing I know of that can cause this effect is if you are looking into the eyepiece mount of a reflector telescope without there actually being an eyepiece in it. Seeing your own eye in this situation is a check that the collimation (lining up of the optical elements) is good.

You need to put an eyepiece into the mount. This scope is meant to come with two eyepieces, but if you bought it second-hand and didn't get them, you can buy eyepieces from several sources, including Amazon and eBay. Measure the eyepiece tube's inside diameter. The most common barrel size for eyepieces is 1.25 inches, but there are also some small telescopes that use eyepieces just under an inch (.965") in diameter, which are harder to find. If you have to buy eyepieces, they are likely to cost more than this scope is really worth.

How do i set site scope to aim at what i want

Not familiar with this particular model, but you may like to try using the main scope to obtain an image (doesn't matter what), then adjusting the small sighting scope to show the same object and securing it in place. HTH

I need a users manual which tells me how to observe things through the eyepiece.

There are probably several good books on astronomy which you may obtain from your local library that could give the information you require, but I doubt if there is one specifically for your telescope. Have you tried contacting the mfrs or importers to see if they can assist you ? After all, it is in their interest to ensure you are satisfied with your purchase.

Vivitar 76700

Do not know where you live but humidity will fog the eyepiece. Put the scope out with the covers on for at least one hour to reach thermal equilibrium. Use the lowest power (highest number) eyepiece first.

Cant get an image. Is it right that the view finderimage is upside down

The image of all astronomical telescopes are upside down (SCTs are upside down and reversed). RACI (right angled, correct image) finders do produce a right-side up image. For daytime use a erect image prism eyepiece.
Follow below instructions (except 7 in your case)

  1. Get Stellarium or another fine astronomy program
  2. During the day, point the telescope at a part of the landscape about 100 yards away.
  3. Use the lowest power eyepiece (highest number) in the focal tube.
  4. Center the landscape object in the telescope.
  5. Align the finder scope so that it points exactly where the main telescope is.
  6. At night, leave the scope out to reach thermal equilibrium (about an hour for small reflectors and refractors)
  7. If the scope is on a EQ mount, polar align.
  8. Point the finder at the moon. The moon should be in the main scope also.
  9. Practice finding the moon before you start on the planets
  10. Once you are comfortable with the moon and planets, you can go for the deep sky objects

That depends. Vivitar has the manual for the TEL-76700 here, but none of the other telescope manual appear to be on their web site.

Need user manual for Meade Telstar 76700 telescope

Try this web site for a manual: http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html.

I did not see the part number 76700 listed but they had several Telstar models listed and did not always show the part number, instead opting to show the model number. If the exact one is not listed, you might find one very close to it.

I hope this helps.
