All of the sudden our camera is not working. I went to put new batteries in the device today after not using it for sometime. Now all of the sudden the device will turn on for about five seconds then it turns off after three beeps that are prompted right away. I have tried to let the new batteries remain in there and take some time to maybe let the device work properly but nothing has come from that attempt. What do I need to do? Or is there no hope except to get a new one?

the beeping is the battery being dead but the black screen with random stuff sounds like the LCD panel is busted. i work at a repair shop and have the same problem with my samsung s630 major problem...lcd panel is not available anylonger for that model.

Hi all!
i got the same problem... but in my case samsung service cost was almost the same as the cost for a new camera!! :(
so i had nothing to lose and i did try to fix it by myself.....
i opened the camera, got really deep and found that what was causing that problem was a small hair stuck into the spur gears that open the lens.... it had some dust too... i cleaned it and works perfect....
id you dare to do it you really have to be very careful or youll really break your camera, i can post some photographs about how to do it and what screws to remove...
See ya!

Finallly sent it in for repair - two times! First time, it took several weeks before I got it back. When it arrived it still would not work, so it had to be sent in again. Then they tell me I broke the camera myself so if they are to send it back (unrepaired) I would have to pay them $50. At this time, paying shipping costs back and forth I figured it wouldnt be cost effective. All together it cost me a total of $200 for 15 pictures taken with the first battery set, which after it would do nothing but beep three times. Some people mention the cause being that they dropped it, but I never did, it was like that straight out of the box.

This camera needs rechargeable batteries usually lasts about a week with much use. I thought what a waste of batteries then tried these rechargable and the situation hasn't occured . it is probably because it is small digtal camera which uses alot of power.
