Unless your living in extreme cold this is a job for your local service agent, if under warranty take in your receipt so it will be at no cost to you

Television will not turn on. The light on the power button comes on and tries to turn itself on, but then shuts off. It continues to try to turn itself on 3 times without any luck.

Hey ,I bought the same tv at a yard sale last week and only paid 15 dollars for it thats right 15 dollars. It was doing the same as yours and i opened up the bottom left part of the tv in the back , vacuumed out all the dust and brushed it lightly with a small brush then i got a hairblower and blowed inside it for like ten minutes moving the hairdryer around so it wouldnt over hear any parts and further damage it. And i garauntee u will solve ur problem.

Something you can try, I don't know if it works for your type of vehicle, turn the ignition on, but try to start it, let it set for ten minutes, turn the ignition off, then try to restart it. you may have to do this procedure three times. on for ten off, on for ten off, on for ten off, do not take the key out of the ignition during this procedure. your security has to relearn the key

KDL 32S5500 TV When left on standby overnight locks-up, hangs.

There is a Post on the Sony Support site which I hadn't previously found. Basically there is a software bug which has come about apparently due to Freeview transmission changes. In order to stop the the machine locking up disable the 'Automatic System Update' option. A Sony centre will apparently apply a software fix to properly resolve the issue, fine if with warranty period, maybe pricey if not. I will get the fix but haven't yet done so as the workaround of disabling the System Update option works.

Vertical lines appear on the screen.

It appears like there is a bad capacitor in the horizontal circuit. Try to put a fan near the ventilation trap, just for a test.
the part cost almost nothing but having someone to your house is expensive.
Your decision.
