Try right clicking on the speaker icon in the right lower corner. This should open the sound properties settings for everything

My dell inspiron 1545 won't shut down went i click on the shut down icon it won't turn off .

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. That will hard-shut the PC. Once that is done, fire it back up, and try again. Somethimes, windows will act goofy shutting down. Especially Vista when it is left on too long without shutting it down.

Where is the michrophone on del inspiron 6400?

Hello,

Unfortunately the Dell Inspiron 6400 is not equipped with a built in microphone.

You can use an external microphone having a 3.5mm jack by connecting it to the microphone connector found on the right side of the laptop.

My Inspiron 1545 turns off when I unplug it from adapter, and when plugged in, the power light on front flashes four times orange and one time white repeatedly.

Does the battery for dell inspiron 1545 plug in. It maybe because the battery pack is too hot ,you can turn off the laptop,let the pc notebook and the laptop battery both cooled down.Then try turn on it to see. If still happen to the matter,it must because the wrong turn off did harm to your Inspiron 1545 laptop adapter.

Would you please try to shut down from the windows menu instead of the button?

If it works then the button may have problem.

Dell Inspiron 1545 Broken Screen?

The LCD is definitely shattered, looks like pressure was applied from the back of the screen (Pressed on, laid on etc) and the LCD will need to be replaced.
