I just downloaded and updated the firmware of my Blu ray player today, and it still wont read any Blu rays. I even tried resetting the player but that didn't work either. It plays normal DVDs just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

BD-P1000 Update Solution
The solution that worked for me: I went to www.samsung.com/ca and downloaded the Samsung BD-P1000 player's firmware update to my desktop. When opened, I was directed to"burn" a DVD on my computer. I then inserted the new DVD in my Blu-Ray player. The player automatically checked and confirmed player model number and registration and uploaded information from the DVD and the update was complete. The BD-P1000 then flawlessly played the rented Blu-Ray disc of "The Scorpion King".
Thank You Samsung!

Go to sharps website and download updated firmware version for your model, then transfer the file to the blu ray using a usb mass storage device. I had to do that to mine it would not play new blu rays and i just bought the darn thing should've come updated. Good luck!
SOURCE: Unit plays DVD but no longer Blu Rays
That is because of a dirty or defective lens. When lens is dirty, the unit may still operate on regular CDs and DVDs and not be reading BD.
Try first using a lens cleaner for Blue Ray:
Maxell 190054 Blu-Ray Lens Cleaner
If that does not work, the unit may be disassembled, and lense cleaned
with q tips and isopropyl alcohol or cleaning solution. See below:

Being this a blue ray unit , I would suggest calling support instead of disassembling the unit by yourself.

SOURCE: Sharp Blu-Ray model BD-HP20X locked to region 4 how to unlock ?
Well I Checked my data resources and saw that there are no hacks or tricks for Sharp yet... the only thing you can try doing now is to ask your Dealership if they can unlock the regions for you. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find anything for newer models like HDDVD or Blu-Ray players.
Sorry T_T But let's hope someone might be able to help as well..
SOURCE: LG Blu-Ray BD-370 unlock codes
To set DVD Region to “0”, download file “6000.zip” (often also called “LG6000.zip”) from here:
http://www.multi-region.net/_media/6000.zip
Save the file and then unzip and extract it to your hard drive.
Now burn the subdirectory RMTM0000 and its contents (not the text file) onto a CD-ROM (ISO format, “closed” CD-ROM).
Insert CD-ROM into the LG BD 370 P player, and when the Region Management System screen is displayed, set the Region Code to “0” using your remote. Once done, press “PAUSE” on you remote to save, and you’re done!
