If you dont do this, you will be stuck with a vaio that you can only install microsoft windows on and NO SOny software PLUS you will LOSE all your existing data.

Hi there, I realise this situation could be very frustrating. Please try restarting you PC and running it to "safe mode". If you installed any new updates on your operating system lately they could be causing the problem. From safe mode i think you could be able to uninstall the recent updates or you could try "system recovery", this option lets your PC go back to a date that was working correctly.
