Hi, here it is the best solution. FlexiDrive floppy drive update.
It is working fine with any equipment.
No more floppies! No more Floppy Drive Units!

Hi Robert Bissett,
The amiga drive Chinon F-354 have jumpers, long itme ago I did this.
I think you have to set a jumper for the drive there is both normally marked with DS0 one of the drives need to be changed to DS1.

I suspect your floppy cable is faulty. It is a fact the manufacturer even delivered some faulty ones with new Amiga 4000 computers.

Buy new one: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=993

The "normal" jumper settings will be sufficient, unless you connect more than one drive to the "data" ribbon-cable.

What is the use of the jumpers on the floppy drive board?

hi there,
only very old floppy drives used jumpers in case two drives were installed so they could be set as A and B. Nowadays floppy drives are jumperless and are set by automatically according to which cable connector plugs into the drive. That's why floppy drive cables have some twisted wires so they can set drives as A and B in case more then one drive is being used in the same system, which is also rare these days.

I am installing an EPSON SD_600 5.25 inch flopy drive into a gateway computer. Which if any jumpers do I need to change into order to have this drive share a data ribbon cable with the existing 3.5 inch...

Unless floppy drive cables have changed in the past few years, they're designed for 2 floppy drives, with the jumpers on both set the same way. There's a small twist in the cable that changes the drive addresses instead.

Or you could just replace the existing drive with the new one.

FD-235HF-7529

This drive supports Ready signal or Disk Change signal on pin 34 (RY34 or DC34), has a large number of jumpers for various settings, thus (unlike the standard 235HF drive which works in PCs only) this drive can used to replace a 720k drive on older computers such as Amstrad CPC/PCW or Commodore AMIGA.

1.2 MB? is this a 5 1/4" drive you are talking about?

You need an older floppy IDE ribbon. No drivers needed for that.
