Both NIC's of my Intel SS4000-E system are unresponsive (i.e. I don't get any led activity at the back and also not at the front). Therefore I cannot (physically) access the system through the network

SOURCE: CanĀ“t use INTEL SS4000-E to host the files of my database from SQL SERVER 2000

The SS4000-E  is a NAS storage server.  To the best of my knowledge it is not possible to put database files on a NAS.  They need to do on Direct Attached Storage.

SOURCE: Disjoin SS4000-E from active directory

If a computer is a member of a domain you need to logon using the local administrator account to change the name.

Another method, which takes a little more time is to remove it from the domain, rename it and then add it back.

Remember to restart after each change.
You may also have to go into DNS and WINS and make sure that the old name is removed and the new name is associated with the IP address.

Can I add additional drives to Raid 1 in order to expand storage?

I am not familiar with the specific model, but my guess is you can setup another separate logical vlume by using a RAID1 for the new disks. You will not be able to add the disks to the existing volume.

If there is no data, and the array supports it you can delete the existing volume and setup a RAID 5 instead, which will use all 4 disks, as long as they have the same capacity.

I am not able to connect to internet because i don't have ethernet controller therefore i need ethernet controller

The ethernet controller is a hardware device either as part of the motherboard -where you will have an RJ45 connector visible to you at the outside of the case -or as a Network Interface Card (NIC) which would be installed as a PCI card which has it's own RJ45 connector.
If yours is a driver problem you will need to specify which brand/model computer or NIC you have for a link to that manufacturer to download drivers from that site. If you encounter problems or have more specific information please post again here. Steve Medley

Internal led of ML350 server is glowing.......how do i resolve it?

Hi Franceso, plz specify
Is it powering ON ?
Which LED is glowing?
These leds are there on the front panel :

1 Power On/Standby button
2 System power LED
Green = Power on
Amber = System shut down, but power still applied
Off = No power

3 Internal health LED (Wave sign in BOX)
Green = Normal
Amber = System degraded. To identify the component in a degraded state, refer to system board LEDs.
Red = System critical. To identify the component in a critical state, refer to system board LEDs.
Off = Normal (when in standby mode)

4 External health LED (power supply)
Green = Normal
Amber = Power redundancy failure
Red = Critical power supply failure
5 NIC 1 activity LED Green = Network link
Flashing = Network link and activity
Off = No link to network.
6 UID LED Blue = Activated
Flashing = System remotely managed
Off = Deactivated
7 UID button

If it is Internal health led then any internal h/w issue is suspected.
If it is external health led then any power supply or power source related issue is suspected.
Also check the status of the server & its IML (Integrated Management Logs) in ilo (Integrated Lights Out ) if it is configured. (2nd RJ45 port in rear)

Also make sure the cabinet is properly closed.

Can't see the folders after restarting SS400-e

If you check their website, you will find:
Upgrading from a previous version of the firmware (to version 1.4) is a “data destructive” process.
it is strongly recommended that you first backup your existing data to another system in your environment. It is also recommended that you understand your current configuration of users, groups and shares to be able to recreate this under the 1.4 firmware.

Unable to connect

When the LED turns continuous amber colored , it means your RAID is not yet initialized.

- Install the Intel Storage system center console (ISSC) software from the accompagnied cd-rom

- Start the ISSC and have it discovering your storage device (make sure you are in the same subnet as your NAS device)

- Once it discovered the device click "Log on storage console" , it will open up a browser and have you login.

Firefox should work , I however assume you are maybe in a different subnet , and therefore cannot open the page.
If FireFox really doesn"t work , try using IE !

CanĀ“t CONNET to AD

You have to make sure that the clock of your NAS is synchronized with the ActiveDirectory. Configure your NAS to use NTP. This should be under the clock configuration screen. Enter the IP address of your domain controller(s) as the NTP server address.

Also, it would be a good idea to make sure that you domain controllers are synchronized with a root time source (on the Internet). In order to do that, run the following command on all you DCs.

C:\>net time /setsntp:br.pool.ntp.org

Of course, your DCs must be able to access the internet on port UDP 123.

Judging by your email address, you seems to be located in Brasil. If you are not in Brasil, you may look for another NTP server http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServers
