Yes your new AMD Athlon 2 X2 255 processor is made to fit both AM2+ or AM3 sockets.

Since your current socket is 754, you will need a new mainboard and DDR3 RAM to go with your new processor.

ASUS make very good mainboards. The ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO/USB3 mainboard is a good companion for your new processor. Install DDR3 1333MHz CL9 RAM from either Kingston or Corsair. 2X2GB modules should do nicely.

The motherboard will support this CPU, with the F1 bios.
I can only advise, that IF your motherboard was working ok before you put the new CPU in, it must be the new cpu you bought.

If this is the 1st CPU you have tried, there is a chance the board is damaged

Whatever board that is in a microATX format and has a 754 socket will do - they all had the same general hardware characteristics and requirements - so get the cheapest you can find.

Your socket is AM2. You can put any AMD processor that has AM2. If the processor is AM3 just upgrade the bios of your motherboard and it should work. If you need further assistance, just leave a comment. Cheers

Athlon 64 mainboards are pretty cheap right now, as are Intel Dual Core CPU's and mainboards. Some of the newer boards do not even have a FD header on them, so if you want to go that way just pick up a USB floppy drive. Shouldn't cost more than about $15.
For a real bargain, check out socket 478 (intel) and socket 754 (AMD) combos. They can be an excellent deal. I buy most of my stuff @ newegg.com

Plz help me out...problem in assembling AMD Athlon 64 processor in KVM800M board

There is no fix for that. You need a board that is the same as the original because that is the size of the processor. If that is a socket 462 processor, it is only designed and will only run in a motherboard with socket 462 on it. You need to either replace the processor or replace the board with the correct one.
