There is no such model.
If you have a A4010S. The tape comes off the reel under the tension arm, over the reverse sensing post, under the heads and lifters, over the
capstan shaft (in between the capstan and Pinch Roller) then under the right tension arm and on to the take-up reel.

What i did to solve this problem on my A-1500 was to remove the tension arm, the pinch roller and the front face holding screws , pull off the rubber faces from the reel hubs and remove them, remove the front metal face plate... in back remove the wood backing panel... inside the deck rear, remove, (without letting them fall into the mechanism) 4 screws that anchor the heavy front cast piece that holds the capstan flywheel...carefully lift the cast piece that holds the flywheel. away from the deck face just enough to allow the old belt be removed, and the new one installed...ensure the belt is installed and goes all around the flywheel..and is not pinched when you push the casting back against the deck face and reinstall the 4 rear anchor screws. place the belt around the upper drive motor pulley wheel.. small diameter part on motor pulley and large diameter part on flywheel for users of 60 hz. Ensure 60hz is selected on switch..or 50hz if that is what you need.(for 50hz ensure belt is on large motor pulley part and smaller flywheel diameter part. with deck lying down or leaning, place a few drops of light lube oil into the felt at the bearing hole for the flywheel. Give the deck a test playback before completely reassembling and putting all the parts back where they were.

I picked up a reel to reel deck to play tapes that are about 30 years old. It plays fine, but I noticed the take up reel is about 75% full, but the play reel has about 40%, so it won't fit. Thoughts?

Logically, if the full tape reel and the empty reel are identical the second must fill at the same rate the other empties and all the tape from the first will fit on the second.

What does happen, however, is at the start the second reel seems to fill much quicker than the first reel is emptying, which is understandable when for any given tape length the second reel will revolve between at least twice as fast as the first reel and probably even faster.

A tape reel that appears to be half full will have much less than half the available tape capacity filled.

Will teac rc-120 remote work with teac a-3440

No. It requires a newer type of the RC90 or RC70 models with 12 pin rectangular plug

Teac a 2340 developed squeezing from supply reel. Motor is lubricated so do think it is that. Squeal stops when supply tension arm is disengaged.

Squeal of tape can be due to sticky tape such as Ampex 406, 456,or 3M 807 and 226 or any tape with the H binder formula. I do not think the machine is at fault because of the squeal it is the tape. I am a past Teac Lead Service Technician so I have 40 years experience at this time. If the machine squeals with no tape on it then you may need brake pads

FF problem on Teac Reel to Reel

You need new brake pads installed as the ones in there now are dried up and may have fallen off. This is very common with older decks or 30-40 years old.
I am still working on these decks at Skywave Tape Deck Repair in the Chicago area.

My Teac LP-R500 audio cassette player squeaks when playing. Tapes do not squeak on my other player.

It all depends on where the squeak is coming from. Some very clean rubber parts make kind of a squeak but I don't think that is your problem if you use cartridge cleaning systems. The real answer as a 40 year plus Tape Deck Technician is to get in there and see what is causing the squeak- it may need some oil in reel table, Pinch Roller or even the Capstan Bearing. Manufacturers do not like to put oil into
unit as it makes for no repairs and you will not have to buy a new one.
I worked at Teac but this unit is far after my exit- I still do repairs full time on the product though. I am sure I could resolve it- I am in the Chicago are.

With TEAC A-2300s. Install new tape from supply side to take up side.

It goes from the left reel over the tension arm under the stationary guide in the head stack under the lifters between the Pinch Roller and Capstan shaft and then under the rigfht tension arm and threaded onto the reel. This is from memory but I am sure I have threaded 1000 or more decks in 40 years of service.

Need a parts list and service manual for A Teac A-4000S Tape Deck.

Depending on the model type- there were three versions, I got a manual from off of Hi Fi Engine but since the unit I worked on was not of that type I ended up going to my reliable manual provider- stereomanuals.com where I got the most clearly reproduced manual I have ever seen for this model. I have been working in this field for over 40 years and have worked at Teac Chicago and their manuals were always torn up. If you want a pristine manual stereomanuals is the only place to go. Tell him Sam sent you.
