UNEVEN GRASS CUTTING

The tractor is 12 years old. Before start cutting, l make sure that the blades mechanism is completly level, by adjusting the screws that support the cage. But as soon as l start cutting or soon after, the mechanism tilts on one side up to 1cm. This tilt varies with every new start and remains constand throughout cutting.l believe the amount of tilt is relative to the load exserted on the blades ie. how high the grass is.Trying to correct the tilt, with the screws, is very dificult and annoying because it keeps changing every time

The most common cause of uneven grass is tire pressure of the machine. Even though they may look like they have air, when you go around a corner it may droop down on that side. If the mechanism is intact, there is no reason for it to change while riding. Or possibly you have a bent hanger.

Uneven Cutting with my Zero Turn 50"...Possible Causes?

First is being sure all your tires have proper air pressure and you don't have a bent blade. Then while parked on flat concrete and both outside blades at 3 and 9 o'clock measure blade height far left side of deck and far right side and compare. I there is a difference the entire deck is out of level and should be adjusted. Then remove the blade drive belt from one of the pulleys so everything is slacked. Grab each blade and see if it wobbles or has excessive play and check the spindle housings for cracks or breaks. If you find a housing with wobble or play the bearings in that spindle are shot ( this is a lot harder to detect with the belt tension on the pulleys) and should be replaced. If you find a broke or cracked housing the housing will need to be replaced. Either one of these situations may not be obvious with the mower at rest but the blade will wobble at speed causing uneven cuts.

How tight is tight when adjusting your blade? My blade bends when cutting curves. Thank you

maybe you need to slow down when going around corners, most of the uneven grass cutting around corners is from the lean to the outside of corners

My mowers cuts uneven I replaced the blades but it still cuts uneven how can I level it?

Park mower on a level flat surface ( a concrete garage floor is ideal ) lift deck up until you can put a piece of a 2x4 flat underneath the deck and lower deck until it just contacts the 2x4. loosen adjustment nuts or turnbuckles and adjust until the deck just starts to clear the 2x4. this should level your deck. Now , lift the deck and remove the 2x4. put blade height lever on a known cut length and with a tape measure, measure the tips of the blades from the floor to the blade tip...they should all be the same within 1/8 of an inch...if not then you either have a bent blade, bent spindle shaft, or spindle bolts are loose or misaligned. Your deck could be warped too...depending on how hard a lick it took...good luck !!! ;-D

Why does my 42 inched deck craftsman tractor cut uneven?

It needs to be leveled. Level it from side to side and front to back, then drop the front 1/4" lower than the rear. The hangers holding the deck in place are adjustable.

I have a Craftsman 42" rider cuts uneven

Check your tire pressure first, uneven tore pressure will cause this problem. On the rear of cutting deck on both sides there are height adjustments, if your deck has a rear roller this also can be adjusted to compensate,If your a stout person sitting on tractor can cause unevenes.

Riding mower

If the grass is very tall (more than 10") you will have to slow down to less than 1 mph, if you have a mulch kit on this unit, remove it to get the grass out as quickly as possible. Also, sharp blades & a level deck are important.

I have seen dull blades, blades not installed right and an un-level deck cause that.

Hope this helps.

Mtd riding mower: right mower blade cutting uneven, but don't see problem

The blade can be bent or the deck is not level. Adjust the deck and level it from side to side. Now level it from front to rear with the front of the deck 1/4" lower than the back. If after leveling it, you find it still cuts uneven remove all blades and inspect them. You will more than likely find one is bent. Replace a bent blade.

Is this the first time cutting grass with a lawn tractor?
How tall of grass?
Use the grass cutting heigth adjustments on the tractor to a higher setting when cutting tall grass. Cut again to a lower height setting on the second pass. Grass higher than your tractor is not good for your tractor. Follow the manual instructions for best results.
