Hp pavilion a250n no video output

Hey how's it going? i'm fixing an hp pavilion a250n for a friend and i've run into a problem. when i turn the power on and boot it up, there's no video coming from the video card. it has an nvidia geforce 4800x graphics card installed, and i've tried switching between it and the integrated video but with the same results: no signal of any kind at all. i wouldn't expect this to be a cmos problem, but i'm open to any suggestions or help that can be offered. any response is appreciated. thanks

well i went through all these steps, and unfortunately i still have the same problem. is it possible that there is a hard drive issue? or maybe even perhaps a RAM issue? i'm sure the problem isn't a difficult one, but it's perplexing me to the end. any other suggestions?

A250n hp will not read the ram expansion slots that extends the memory what is possibly wrong with it

Check you are fitting the same specification of RAM into the expansion slots as you have in the others. To make doubly sure fit the same make and size, this will swerve any compatibility problems.

No video on a Pavilion s3620f

Try another monitor that you know works. If that doesn't work it may be your video card or chip.

circa 2003 , tiny HDD, and memory. old, Goodwill has 1000s parked.

well it can be many things,
did you remove all the cards first, (yes all)
does that hold up power? now?
it will beep, like that, if video car is pulled
and then pull memory, and it will give the ram missing beep codes
all this is covered in the great HP service books.,
beep codes and all
the power switch can be bad or the line cord. to wall. bad.

hold up, means stay running,

you can strip it down, to just mobo and PSU
sure can,.
the CPU can overheat, sure can. and can be checked.

Occasionally boots up

restart and repeatedly tap F1, loads to BIOS, press F5, press Enter, press F10 and press Enter, allow to restart.
If problem recurs, run a test on the hard drive to check for errors,

My HP Slimline s3100n pc crashed and will power on but nothing shows up on the screen. How do i fix this?

Are you able to enter the BIOS ? If no then it's a major hardware failure, most likely the motherboard. If yes then check that the hard disk is still recognized; if it is then reinstall (or Repair, if you are bold) Windows and try to identify the cause of the crash - start by testing the hard disk using HDTune.

I have a hp pavilion dv9000 serious and when i turn on my laptop it powers up but the only problem is my monitor doesn't want to start it seems like its on hibernate or something

usaully on a laptop there is a function key that controls video output. this key normally has three positions. Video to laptop screen only, Video to laptop and vga output (IE. lcd projector), and the last one is "Video to vga output only". The last setting will keep your laptop screen blank. It is worth a try. GOOD LUCK!!

Hp pavilion dv200 Laptop, lights come on, no screen of HD activit

The fix for this is weird but works! make sure you have quite a lot of charge left in the battery , then turn it on close the lid and wrap it up in a duvet for about 45 minutes, it will not damage it but maake sure you dont go over an hour, what this does is reseal the video card in the machine as this is a known fault with these machines, i did it with my beloved DV6000 which was out of warranty, leave it to cool down and then turn it on hey presto! it will work again..yep i was very dubious aswell but trust me it works! and you;ve nothing to lose if its out of warranty as the fix is to replace the motherboard!

My HP a250n boots up to the windows logo, then the screen goes black and stays that way. Hdd continues to spin.

Sounds like your windows installation was corrupted. Try booting into safe mode from BIOS. If that doesn't work you will need to re-install Windows.

DVDRW Drive will write DVD but will not read. Have Tried Cleaning drive and compressed air. Computer is HP Pavilion A250N

Purchase a DVD lense cleaner kit, should resolve this for you. If it does not, unistall the drivers for the drive, go to its manufacturers website and download the drivers for the operating system you are using.
