My TV automatically changes channels when I turn it on. I have to turn it on by the power button on the front of the TV only. The remote will not work at all. The channel change and volume control buttons on the front of the TV does not work either.
I have disconnected the TV from the outlet and then plugged it back in to no avail.
Out of 30 years in the repair field, I have seen this problem maybe 4 times. Once was a stuck button on the keypad of the tv. The other time was a second remote control with a book sitting on it and it would turn the tv on and off when someone would move something on the coffee table, another time was a bad solder connections on the microprocessor on the keypad circuit board and the last time was from a humorous neighbor in an apartment complex who thought he was funny who had an all in one remote control programmed for his neighbor's tv set.
Check for stuck buttons on the front of the tv set or on the remote. You can reset the remote by taking the batteries out and keep out for a few minutes and then put them back in. Try both if that don't work then you will have a deeper problem needed more technical troubleshooting.

I tried that. What is weird is when I came home from work the TV was on and just flipping through channels itself. So basically the TV turned itself on while I was at work.
I have a similiar problem. My tv turns itself on and off, and it flips channels as if I were channel up button too long. If I unplug it for a few days or a week, it will work just fine, but as soon as I cut it off, it goes back to turning itself on and off and flipping channels
