SOURCE: control panel for freezer and refrigerator

Behind the back panel of the freezer section is the evaperator assembly. on the rh side of the evaperator is a sensor pack that is for the defrost cycle. there is a thermo fuse inside of this pack that is open. The fridge goes into an error state if this fuse is open. unplugging the fridge resets the system. the sensor pack will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: frigidaire side by side refridge

pull the kick plate off under the doors. if you look in behind the kick plate youll see alot of dust build up. this area needs to be cleaned once a year to keep air flowing properly over the condenser coils. if the dust build up is minimal then remove back panel of refrigerator and make sure the fan is running behind the refrigerator. if not, or if running real slow replace the fan motor. the heat is the because the condenser is getting too hot. it needs to be fix or the compressor life will be greatly shortend

Whirlpool refrige side by side doors refridge not cooling frezzer works fine when freezer door opens cool air goes into refrige colse freezer door air stops

Hi,

The air return is clogged or obstructed. At the bottom part of the unit, left side wall of the refer section is a port, this is the air return and you will need to make sure to check this and clear all obstruction. If its ice, it will need to be removed. DON'T USE A KNIFE OR AN ICE PICK!!! You can do more damage than needed to correct this problem. I use a steam machine but, you could use a blow dryer if you careful with the heat as it can melt plastic. If you can unplug the unit during this cleaning process. If this is too difficult, unplug unit and leave the doors open to dray out for 24 hours or so, this will fix the problem you have also. Good luck

It is still cooling but was making a loud sound unplugged it over night now it seems to be working again, what made sound and will it come back

Good day,
Motors make noise. There are three motors. One behind the rear panel in the freezer compartment.
Another in the back rear of the machine, called a condenser cooling, fan motor, and lastley, the compresssor itself which is locacated in he bottom rear as well.
One reason could be ice building up around the freezer fan motor and hitting the blades of the fan.
If it is a Whirlpool/Kenmore make then that fan motor could be going bad.
But without a make and complete model number that's all the info I can provide.
As well, we'll need to know how long it takes to re-appear, and if it is constant or intermitent noise problem.

Refridge quit cooling suddenly inboth freezer

That could be a broad range of possibilities. The defrost timer, adaptive defrost board, compressor start relay, compressor start capacitor or a mother board. Would you happen to have the model number so I can narrow down those possibilities? If you pull away from wall remove cover over the compressor and then unplug. Touch the compressor and let me know if cool, warm or too hot to touch. Thanks, Sea Breeze
