The top rack is always dirty. There is also detergent left in the door cup after washing. It seems like it is not spraying from the top arms. I figured this is a pump issue. The pump is run from a brushless stepper motor so I am guessing one of two items are at fault. Either the motor is bad, so why would it turn, or the control board that controls the speed of the motor/pump water pressure is not telling to motor to spin at the correct speed. Any ideas for testing either item?
Almost all of the problems mentioned above will be solved by having the owner buy a name brand detergent powder (like Electrosol or Cascade) and using a little less than you think you should.
For those who continue to have problems with poor cleaning, you need to remove the lower spray arm (pull straight up firmly, then out) and then remove the 9 screws that hold the filter in. Using a flashlight, inspect everywhere in the sump area (be careful of broken glass!) Remove all debris and especially look for something blocking the white check valve that is driven by the Vario motor to control the alternation between the upper sprayer arms and the lower arm. Reasemble and test.
If inside dishwasher is a mess with white mineral deposits, recommend you place a bowl filled with white vinegar on the rack of your empty DW. Start a quick cycle with no detergent added.
Check out how clean it is when you are done!

There is a cicrular plastic part behind the pump vanes that directs water flow by rotating to one direction or the other. If it doesn't turn correctly the upper spray arms do not get water. Place 4 cups in each corner of the upper rack and start the cycle. If you hear the motor running but the cups do not fill that is the probable problem. You must disassemble the pump housing to get to the part. I think water flow turns the part but I'm not sure. I jut rotated it back and forth reassembled the pump housing and worked fine -no more soap left now that spray is getting to it.

I have the same problem. The issue was already fixed once about a month ago, but reappeared. Diverter motor is most likely bad or stuck. When removed and attached to a power source, it appeared to function properly.
same exact problem. Soap still left in dispenser. Dishes dirty. Seems like the arms are not spinning , but how do I test? I have aligned the arms, and they are not in the same place when I open the door, but it seems like falling water or vibration that moves them, because food particles are still on dishes.
I, too, have that problem--soap left in the dispenser (even after using less detergent), dirty dishes on the top rack plus an oder is developing in the empty stainless steel dishwasher.

Just bought the new LZg and have same issue.
Seems like there is not enough pressure to turn the water bars.
Not happy with this unit thus far
Same problem... so disappointed as it worked great for the first few months but now the bottom sprayers barely rotate and have very little water pressure which, in turn, leaves the upper arms dry and still. Smell continues even after running empty... cleaned out ALL of the arms -- not the problem... seems to be a "pressure" problem within the unit.... will try Oct '08 and March 22, 2009 suggestions... ugggggghhhh... thanks.
