check the door interlock sensor. Somewhere there is a tab or button that lets the washer know when the door is closed. If this switch isn't being triggered it could be that the machine thinks the door is open and won't function.

broken motor coupling between the motor and tranny cost is about 15 bucks can get from repairclinic.com
