I have a model MTB1956GE Maytag Fridge, Frezzer compartment works well and keeps everything frozen. Fridge compartment won't get cold enough to keep food. We tried defrosting in case ice was in air duct between freezer and fridge no avail. The fan may not be working to circulate cold air. Not sure how to proceed or if I'm on right track. Please help.
Can you feel air moving or hear the fan running in the freezer section? You said the freezer section is freezing well, but is it freezing really hard?
Regards,Richard
I can hear what sounds like a fan running ie noise but I don't feel any air movement inside the freezer. Earlier today before we noticed the problem with the fridge portion the freezer had solid ice and solid ice cream.
If you can't feel air moving at the back vent in the freezer, you will need to replace the fan motor. Here is a link to the part you need. The part is number 7 on the list. They make 2 different fans for that model so you will need to remove the rear panel in the freezer to see which one you have.
