Zebra LP2824 Not Printing

Hi,

I'm trying to get my Zebra LP2824 Direct Thermal Printer working but it refuses to print anything other than the ZebraNet Print Server Config info.
I'm running Windows Vista and have already installed all the appropriate drivers as well as the ZebraDesigner Pro software. They all installed fine however when I try to print the program freezes and the printer does nothing.

I've checked and double checked connections, pinged the printer and it replied fine, even tried other software applications to get the printer to spit something out.

The print job is in the printer queue, stays there for about 30secs then says error. I've tried dumping (reset) the printer but i'm still having the same issue.

Program works great, computer, router and the whole network can see the printer just fine, they let me adjust the settings too.

I'm at my wits end, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I had the same problem and could not fix it but called Zebra headquarters and they gave me this solution and it works! It sounds crazy but it works. Turn off the printer on the switch on the side. press and hold the button on the front of the machine while you turn it on. The light will turn red then release the button the light around the button will then turn a solid greed then blink green. While it is blinking green press and hold the button again until it the light turns orange and then release the button. This apparently puts your printer into line mode or something but anyway it works!

I'd try using the driver from Seagull Scientific. I've used them for many types of thermal printers.

They work with Vista, and your LP2824 model is listed in their Zebra downlaod.

Good luck,

My lp 2824 zebra printer is printing too light

I am unsure if this one is a ribbor printer or a thermal......
if thermal the paper might be too old or the print head is going bad. if ribbon try replacing the ribbon, or you have a bad batch of ribbons.

I cant seem to get rid of the "Ribbon In" error on my zebra S4M

1st change the print method to direct thermal on the LCD panel,  then check the driver on your computer, make sure you are printing with direct thermal

u can check the driver at printer & faxes , right click the printer and select printing preference .

My zm400 keeps reverting back to direct thermal

did it stay on direct thermal if you not doing any print job ?
then i assume you the problem is when you printing .In ZEBRA DESIGNER, there's a printing preference that can be set up... i think u selected direct thermal when you print with zebra designer, that's why whenever u start printing, it show RIBBON IN again.
the solution is, Just changed the printing method from zebra designer.

if you aren't using zebra designer, then the problem at your driver. Open Printer & Faxes, then right click your Printer and klik on Printing Preferenced. There u can set up the printing method to Thermal Transfer.

The thing is....... changing the Setting from LCD panel won't change the setting on the driver.

i hope this will help you

Printing a 2.25 in label on Zebra LP2824. Prints

Recalibrate the printer and you should be good to go. Do this by turning the printer off, press and hold the button and turn on the power. When the light flases red let go and it will calibrate, at the end it will do a printout. Reboot the printer and your fixed.

Zebra LP2824 not printing

Sounds like you put your printer into line mode. Line mode prints code so you can see what is sent to the printer to look for possible mistakes in the code.

To switch from line mode back to page mode.
  1. Turn printer off.
  2. Press and hold the feed button down. And switch printer on.
  3. Release the feed button when the LED flashes red.
  4. When the LED flashes green, press down the feed button.
  5. When the LED flashes amber release the feed button.
  6. Try printing now that the printer is back in page mode which is used for print your labels; line mode prints the labels code.
  7. Do this fast or else it wont work if you are slow.

My zebra LP2824 Thermal printer is driving me nutty. It skips tags between each printed one. I'm printing on thermal labels that are 1.1875x3.375 (2 side by side) so the total measurements are 2.375x3.375....

possible is not the best printer to work on site-by site labels because the sensors that read the gab are on the midle of the label and possible can't check wen the label start and end. try the printer S4M (sensors on lenf side), or try normal labels and press the botton until flash 2 times and release the botton (calibrate).
