Wide angle mode switch stuck??

Hi -
My FE-100's wide angle button cannot be pressed and adjusted. The Shutter button also is difficult to press and so the flash is not working either. I recharged the batteries and the battery charge shows full. Does any one know of how to solve this?

Thanks

How to take wide angle photos

Hi there,

Different cameras have there own specific features and means to take wide angle shots.

Some employ a 'Thumb' button marked with a 'T' and a 'W'. This stands for Telephoto and Wide angle.

Others allow you to start the camera up in a specific mode. These are usually indicated by icons that can be less than intuitive, like:
  • Mountains - Long distance
  • A Flower - Close up/Wide angle
  • A Runner - Fast shutter speed / action shot
  • A Head - Portrait
Still others are menu driven.

And then there are those that do not have the ability.

It depends on the camera model. Hopefully one of these can help you.

Best regards,
Mike

Setting date on Canon elph Jr.

To set the date:
1. Press the Date button (rear left button on top of the camera)
2. Press the Select button (small round button up and to right of date button, may need pen point to press), display may show 97 1 1, with the 97 blinking.
3. Press the Set button (below the Select button) to change the value of the blinking character.
4. Press the Select button again to change to the next character. Use Set again to change. Repeat until date is set.
5. Press the Select button when all characters are set.

To set time, press the Date button again and the display should change to time (24 hour mode). Use the Select and Set buttons as above to set the correct time.

C, H, and P indicate the type of picture you want to take. C stands for Classic, and the picture will be in a standard aspect ratio. H is the wide angle setting, and the printed picture will be printed wide angle. P is panoramic, and the printed picture will be even wider angle than H. All this depends on the processor who develops your pictures for you. Ask if their equipment can read and process according to the instructions your camera will automatically put on each exposure on your film.

The three buttons on the left side are:
Top -- Flash setting. On (lightning bolt) or Off (lightning bolt with line through it).
Middle -- Film rewind button. Film should rewind automatically when fully exposed, but you can rewind before the film is fully exposed by using this button.
Bottom -- Self timer. Pressing this button puts a clock symbol on the display. When this is set, the shutter will delay 10 seconds after the shutter button is pressed. Press this button a second time to turn off the self timer.

4.14.1 Understanding Viewing Features
Your LCD HDTV features four viewing modes and Picture-In-Picture (PIP)/Picture-by-Picture (POP) mode.
You can switch viewing modes using the remote control.
4.14.2 Viewing Modes
Normal Mode
The original 4:3 aspect ratio (1.33:1 source) is preserved, so black bars are
added to the left and right of the display image. Standard TV broadcasts are
displayed with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. Movies in 4:3 Aspect Ratio may be referred
to as pan-and-scan or full frame. These movies were originally filmed in 16:9
(widescreen), and then modified to fit a traditional TV screen (4:3).
Wide Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full-frame movie in this mode,
the display image is stretched proportionately to fill the TV screen.
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1 source) program or movie, the
display image fills the TV screen. If you are watching a widescreen
(1.85:1 or 2.35:1 source) program or movie, there will still be black
bars at the top and bottom.
Zoom Mode
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1, 1.85:1, or 2.35:1 source)
program or movie, the display image is zoomed proportionally to fill the
width of the screen. The top and bottom are cut off to remove most of
the source material’s black bars. This mode is good for programs or
movies with sub-titles.
Panoramic Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full frame movie in this mode,
the 4:3 Aspect Ratio (1.33:1 source) display image is stretched
horizontally on the left and right sides to fill the TV screen. The center
of the image is not stretched.

Note: Viewing modes are saved based on input. For example, you lasted watched a DVD in widescreen
mode and then watched TV in standard mode. When you switch back to DVD input, the viewing mode
will return to widescreen.

Which lens

Hey caturner7,
If you have a large family and you are having a difficult time fitting everyone in the frame then a wide angle lens might be exactly what you need, but this will probably not make your images any sharper. The most common cause of blurry images is the camera is moving during exposure. Even the slightest camera shake can cause blurry images. There are multiple solutions to this, first make sure the shutter speed is high enough, then make sure the ISO is set to about 400, and then make sure the flash is on. Another cause of this could be that the camera is not achieving focus so make sure you are pressing the shutter button down halfway so the camera can achieve focus before you take the picture. A slightly telephoto lens usually produces the most pleasing portraits. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

I have a T5054 TV and the picture has zoomed in and is way too big, however in the picture settings menu the zoom option is not highlighted in Component mode.

There could be a problem, but verify the settings as listed in the owner's manual as follows:

1 Press the MENU button to display the menu.
Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Picture, then press the ENTER button.
2 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Size, then press the ENTER button.
3 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select the screen format you want.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the EXIT button to exit.
16:9 : Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
Zoom1 : Magnifies the size of the picture on the screen.
Zoom2 : Expands the Zoom1 format picture.
Wide Fit : Enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen.
4:3 : Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode.
Just Scan : Use this function to see the full image without any cutoff when DTV
or HDMI 720p/1080i signals are input.
Press the P.SIZE button on the remote control to change the picture size.

And realize the restrictions as listed:

• In TV, VIDEO, S-VIDEO, and COMPONENT(480i, 480p) modes, all screen
modes can be selected. (16:9 ➞ Zoom1 ➞ Zoom2 ➞ 4:3)
• In COMPONENT(720p, 1080i) or HDMI(720p, 1080i) mode, 16:9, 4:3 and
Wide Fit can be selected.
• In Zoom1, Zoom2 and Wide Fit modes, you can move the picture on the
screen by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button.
•You can not change the picture size when PIP is set to Double.
•When Double ( , ) mode has been set in PIP, the Picture Size cannot
be set.
•Wide Fit can be used when watching a Digital HD (High Definition) signal.
Wide Fit sets the optimum picture format by expanding it both horizontally and
vertically. For example, you can reset the picture in 4:3 format to 16:9. Wide Fit
does not support all external devices (DVD, VCR etc.).
