IE8 Problem Downloaded the new IE8, but I have a problem, in a few websites I get this message - "To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later". I'm guessing it's a problem with IE8, but is there a way to get around this?

Yup you have 2 choices. Try the compatability mode which you will find on the adddress bar, or uninstall it which I did as I had too many issues with IE8

Try updating your flash player @ http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

and

Shockwave Player @ http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

You have not mention what's your OS? Updating your system files from Microsoft Updates will be a good idea 'cos you have installed IE8 and the IE8 do need some security patches.

Hope it helps.

Over the last few days I have a big problem connecting to Yahoo. The message is: Internet explorer cannot locate Yahoo. I have the same problem on 2 computers, and one of them is a pretty new laptop. I...

This is a known issue with IE8 happens a lot. I use another browser a lot of folks do. Try this and see if this resolves the issue for you. Go and download FireFox browser Click Here

Now go and see if you can log into Yahoo, if you cannot log in from there most likely they are down. I'm assuming that you can go to other sites other than Yahoo on IE8 then that kind of tells you where the problem lies not with your Internet Provider.

I just went there and I was able to get there. Thanks for using FixYa! I have not used IE in years cannot stand it to many issues and problems occur on a very regular basis to each their own though. It does seem when you first download the upgrade it will work for a bit it just seems to go haywire after that. John

I bought this laptop for work. But the website we use at work requires IE8 when I try to update from IE6 (what the laptop has) it says the card does not have the .net attachment. How can I update to IE8?

try a windows update from within windows first as this should update any and all .net issues for you.
then update IE..
You may have to update to IE7 before you can install IE8.
This may also be an issue with your video card, drivers or the chip itself.
In this case, you may not be able to perform an update to IE8.
If the laptop is an older model, this may be your issue.
However, you may be able to update the video card.
Have a look on the laptop manufacturers website for this info..

Browser not supported web dynpro problem:

this error message can mean that you are using an IE8.
If so try to do this simple stpes to Change the compatibility view settings in IE8 browser.
1. In IE8 Go to menu Tools
2.Compatibility View Settings
3. Select the checkbox “Display all websites in Compatibility View”
4. click on the ‘Close’ button.
5. Close all browser sessions and then open a new browser window.

note:
The WebDynpro runtime should now be able to allow the usage of Microsoft IE8 browser.

Hi,

This may be caused due to the fact that not all websites are "IE8-compatible" (they were designed for earlier versions of IE). So, to browse such websites you can turn on the compatibility feature in IE8 by clicking the Compatiblity View button next to the address bar in IE8.
