there is a switch at the top to use controls from dvd , then tv, wtc. switch it over or call Sony and get a new one. Make sure the sensor on the unit is not blocked.

I hope this information help you with your problem. 1.- Power on with no DVD inside the player; 2.- Press open on the DVD player; 3.- Press Menu button on DVD (or SETUP on remote control), (you see General Setup Page on the screen); 4.- Press the right key 3 times to select the Preference Page; 5.- On the remote control press 9653; 6.- Use the up and down key to select the Region, Select 0 for all regions; 7.- Press Enter. (This works with NS-7PDVD and NS-8PDVD)
