Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct your problem. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them. By the way, I'd focus on trying Fix #1 first by your symptoms (how old is your battery? Rechargeables aren't meant to last forever.):
And here's a video summary of the steps:

When turning on, shutter opens then closes.

Most possible that the control board inthe camera is faulty and the shutter closing off after opening is the errors in the servo of the camera.
It will be necessary to obtain the control board from Kodak and should be estimated.

Camera lens wont open or close after being dropped. it won't turn on and take pictures

Lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.
Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

My kodak easy share M1063 turns on then shuts right off how do i

I had the same exact problem. When the camera turns on and then lens extends, hold the lens out while the camera shuts off. Then sort of move it around a bit. I did this and when I turned it on, it was fixed. I guess something was jammed in the lens.

My easyshare m1063 will take pictures, but the pictures dont show

I have an easyshare and there's a 2 part lens cover that closes when you turn it off and opens when you turn it on - normally. Mine only closes one part of the cover when I turn it off and opens when I turn it on. Kodak said I could send it in but I may have sat on it and caused it to malfunction. In which case they wouldn't cover it. Yours sounds like it's not opening at all. Look at the lens, and if you see a flat black cover with a wavy line instead of glass when you turn it on, yours is stuck shut. If it's still under warranty they should fix it unless you sat on yours too. Consumer Reports rated these a best buy but somehow this problem fell through the cracks of their testing.
