NO PC stated ,wow now that is hard , no? 1984 to 2018 PCs (1000s of types made !)
compaq to 2013 ends.
NO OS stated, windows, yes?, what windows, XP, vista ,what?

seems to me, the BIOS barfs on your Processor.
my guess is you changed mother boards, and used the wrong processor.? (or the reverse)
learn that the BIOS must be able to recognize the processor in the POST process.
(for sure lots of causes other)
does it do that (laptop) with the main battery the huge heavy battery , that is now shorted and dead.?
you post and not even say desk or laptop. wow.
is it a Proliant Server? or Z600 with 2 non matching Xenon processors, gee, must I guess it all?>
why not just post your service tag data.
and say what OS is running, even windows servers.

the HP manuals on your PC clearly state what processor on that exact model and P/N on the service tag.
clear as day.
as will the hp parts surfer.
varies by country too.
see this, if you answer all the questions there, bingo what yours had and what processor options are supported.
on newer PC HP 10 years or less the BIOS update page also lists added processors under"details" there you go.

it says up grade bios , on the wild hope there is one, most times not.
that is what happens when computers guess.
    bad advice.
what it should say and does not

    "wrong processor installed"
    or "unknown processor installed"
or if dual Processor(not 2 cores) wrong match"
or power to it is weak or the comm bus to it trashed. it is a computer and as such vast ways to fail.as how to test them.

is it so hard to tell what you own there?
I have HP server, or PC or enterprise HP works station, what? PC or laptop, desktop
    what?

it has name please lead off with that. or you will not get accurate answers , also the OS you wish to run or are running.
my guess is some kind of very old Compaq, something... all we know is PUTER.....

compaq 1801 error from 10 long years ago , all causes.
1: the op put in a wrong processor.!!!
if a HP X600 , not using matched pairs !!!
2: the OP flashed his BIOS with the wrong binary flash file, for the wrong PC oops.

3: the processor is dead. (bad malfing, rare)
4: the power on the mobo is low, wrong, etc.
5: the control, address and data lines are failing on the Mobo. bad mobo...or...
6: the DDR ram can be bad and do this, try all ddr sticks 1 by 1 in bank 0 to prove that.
7: the PSU power is low. to the MOBO. bad PSU.
8: other mobo issues, even things plugged in to MOBO that overloads it, remove hdd,CD drives, cables, repeat tests.

I think i got them all. no?

the error means BIOS does NOT LIKE your PROCESSOR, or is not supported.

  • Anonymous Mar 08, 2018

    one more.
the OP put in a processor that no bios supports ever. for this unstated PC.
very easy to do not asking HP first for a fact.
or is support and fail to do the bios upgrade correctly and carefully.

you got no where at HP because
you never told them what PC you owned
    nor the OS running there.
is it so hard to read the service tag
then tell the helper what it states?
    my guess is:
1: someone flashed your BIOS and bricked the PC.
2: some one changed the CPU and put in the wrong one. (non trivial this)

    the patch means this.
The BIOS update that you have (of the many)
does not support your processor installed.
    that is what it means.
did you buy a used mobo, or used dead PC
    history matters, and not told.

These are very different CPU's, and you should make sure the board accepts the new one. Check the manual.

I just install 2.0GHz processor but my system keep giving 1801 microcode patch error, what do i do?

The 1801 error is defined as:
Missing or invalid Processor Microcode Patch.

Resolved by:
Applying a new ROM BIOS to support the processor stepping.

In other words, you need a BIOS upgrade. Contact your BIOS vendor and get support for your new processor.

1801-microcode patch error

Hi according to HP memo see the following answer hope it help:

DESCRIPTION After installing a different system board or processor in systems described in the "Scope," the systems may halt during POST and display an 1801 Microcode Patch Error with a prompt to press the F1 key to continue.
NOTE Pressing the F1 key will allow the system to continue. However, processor performance may not be optimized and the error will repeat each time the system is restarted. HP recommends that the microcode be updated to ensure optimum compatibility and performance.
