Creative speakers 2.1 not working properly

How old is the computer when was it last serviced/cleaned
you might have to uninstall the speakers then restart your computer and reinstall them
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers

also it might be a faulty or dusty lead connections and a dusty sound card
open up your computer have a look at the speaker connections check for dust and bad connections
