I am finding that I cannot use the 53 key pad for my MC 9090 G. Only a few keys work and they're not mapped properly. Not sure if I need a new keyboard or if I can re-initialize this one. So How do I re-initialized the keyboard, and if that fails, how do I purchase a new keyboard.
The Motorola MC9090 can have different keypads attached. If you do change the keypad for any reason for example go from a 53 key to 43 key layout the terminals must be cold booted.
To cold boot an MC9090 running Windows Mobile 5. Partially remove the battery, hold down the On/Off button, the trigger and reinsert the battery. When the orange light on the keyboard flashes release the on/off button and the trigger.
If the on/off button or trigger is held down longer than required this occasionally causes the terminal to get caught in a warm boot cycle
If the device is still not giving the correct key output it may have a faulty keypad.
