Verticle line down the middle of lcd monitor.

I own a Toshiba p35-s605. For the first time today, I noticed a verticle line down the middle of the LCD monitor. What may be causing this? The line is about a hair's width in thickness. I specially see it when viewing an image with dark background. Thank you in advance.

i have a lg 42" hd tv.. same problem.. only the line appears exactly 1 hour after the set is under power. on a light background the line is "light green" ,on a dark background the line appears "red" . it will then stay on for the remainder of the power on sequence.

I have a brand new toshiba p35-S611 with the same problem, since about 2 months I had a white thick line (3") vertical on the half right side on the screen , it remains till the asll icons desktop appears , then it vanished gradually,

and now since 3 weeks another line appears on the left side but it remains more than the first one.

I connect my laptop with another pc display , it works perfectly with no line, it is obviously something wrong inside the laptop screen or system .

    any body help????

I had my first vertical line about a year ago then the second about 3 inches to the right two to three months later, about 2 cm thickness. The third appeared today, a thin blue line. I connected an additional monitor which is fine so I suspect I will need to replace the original screen. I have read online comments about the cooling system problems and wondered if this had anything to do with it. I will be pulling it apart to clean the fans and hope to see a positive results on the screen but I'm not overly optimistic

This is a common problem with LCD screens. It is pixel line damage and the screen is permanently damaged and is not repairable. It will probably get worse. The only answer is to replace it

Verticle lines/streaks down screen

The Display panel could be bad/damaged or the main board that controls every thing could be bad---parts for Dell equipment are known to be hard and sometimes impossible to find.

Thanks "aaarwind" Sorry I havn't

THe screen on your laptop is faulty by the sound of it as the same processor is used for VGA out as the internal screen.
Check the cables and connectors to your screen before replacing it.
Consult a Toshiba Computer agent for confirmation if you are not sure.

ok well i have seen more than enough of theese and the result to fix this is that you will need a replacement. Now how that would have happened is by having somthing push down on that and it caused it to have that line, try not setting things on or having things put pressure against the bezzel(hard plastic casing around the screen) causing the line to appear.

Verticle line running down the screen.Thin verticle line running down the screen.

You have a defective LCD panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD panel. It is the most expensive part in the TV (usually $500-2500) depending the make, model, and size. It is also time consuming as you need to take the whole TV apart in order to replace that part.

Screen problem.

Does your LCD look like this or similiar? (below) If it does, there should be a female plug similiar to the picture also below.
Hook smaller end of cable to your laptop, the other end to your external monitor. Turn on your laptop. If the vertical lines are not present then its probably your LCD, which will more than likely have to be replaced. If lines are present, then like tom19511 said it may be the video drivers. I've had this same problem with my Toshiba Satellite p35 5 times already. Toshiba had to replace my LCD each time. LCD's are more expensive than an inverter. Good luck, I hope you get it fixed.
