I was unable to locate a user manual for that particular device, however the basic instructions for programming speed dial functions are normally very similar between most phones.

Generally there are ONE TOUCH Speed Dial buttons labelled something like M1, M2, and M3 on the dial pad somewhere.

There should also be another button labelled PROG or STORE on the keypad as well.

Normally to program a number into a ONE TOUCH speed dial memory location you carry out the following procedure:

Lift the handset.

Then press the PROG (or STORE) button.

Now just use the number keypad to dial the full telephone number that you want to store in a Speed Dial location.

Once the full telephone number is dialed, then push the M1 button to store that phone number in the M1 One Touch Speed Dial location.

The phone may or may not show some kind of confirmation that the M1 location was just programmed, then just hang up the handset.

Now when you lift the handset and press the M1 button, the phone should automatically dial the phone number you programmed into it.

Now just repeat the same process for the M2 and M3 One Touch Speed Dial buttons with other phone numbers if necessary.

To change one of the Speed Dial numbers, just carry out the normal programming procedure for that location using the new phone number and the old number will simply be overwritten.

I truly hope that was helpful to you.
Good luck and take care.

Joe.

Can we make it so the phone can receive calls but not make out going calls?

You can, but you need access to Installer level programming. I'm not going to give you detailed instructions here, because any fool can do the reverse and UNrestrict a phone with the same instructions, but system program 500 and 501 sets day and night restrictions on a phone. Setting the COS to 7 lets the phone dial 0, intercom, and, by programming, System speed dial numbers.
COS 8 allows Operator only (internal operator).

By building tables, you can actually program different restrictions and exceptions for COS 2-6. There's a fairly comprehensive discussion in the Panasonic Features Manual of your TD 816/1232 manual.

INSTRUCTIONS NEEDED ON HOW TO SET UP SPEED DIAL NUMBERS FOR WHOLE OFFICE SYSTEM

Speed dial numbers 001 -255 (01- 70 on older versions) are system wide speed dial numbers and are changed in system programming. System programming is done on M7310,M7324 and T7316 set only.
Enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344.
The screen should say Terminals&Sets.
The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming.
At the terminals&sets prompt, press the next key 3 times(bottom right arrow).
The display should say Sys speed dial.
Press the show key (top right arrow)
The display should say speed dial#:--
enter in the speed dial number you wish to program(40-70) .
Press the show key (top right arrow) .

I need to recall the system speed dial directory on my NEC Electra telephone system. I am unable to find a memory re-call/display feature in my manual.

With this old model of phone you don't have the soft keys to scroll through the directory like the newer models have.

In order to check the system speed dials you will need to check them manually:

System Speed Dial #'s
LNR/SPD key and the system speed # 00~79

Station Speed Dial #'s
LNR/SPD key and the system speed # 80~99

This will dial the # and/or display the name associated with the speed dial.

In order to program them refer to this manual:

Elite IPK Features and Specs

Look under Speed dial-Station or System.

I can't change the speed dial numbers on my phone

You should only have to hit Feature - Redial and then select the soft key that you wish to re-program. Typically you will then type 1 and then the extension you want to program.

Speed dial access

It's easier if you have access to the database to put in names with the numbers, but in the simplest sense, you can take a piece of paper, write down locations, and start entering numbers.

PROG

They are added in sytsem speed dial from the first extension or one designated as the manager's phone. PROG **1234 gets you into programming and 001 is the system speed dial area. With a combination of NEXT's and ENTER, you can be looking at SD 000 (ie PROG **1234 NEXT NEXT ENTER NEXT) and you're ready to enter a speed dial in bin 000. The complete number starts with an access code (9) plus the number as you would dial it. For example 918005551212 ENTER puts that number in bin 000. NEXT will step to 001.

USE

Press INTERCOM or select a line and press AUTODIAL and dial the 3 digit code. If your installer was lazy, you will have a problem as "9" selects the highest line in a trunk group, one that you might not have. In that case, he'll either have to program the system properly, or you will always have to pre-select a line to use speed dial.

Notice that this is just hte instructions for SYSTEM speed dial. I guessed that it was what you're looking for. Personal speed dial is a different set of instructions and it could be either under a button or in your 10 or 100 number personal directory (so that's where the 2 digit SD's went :-))

Anyway, if you need those instructions and can't find them in the user manual, please post back.

Clear speed dial/one touch settings

There is no way to clear the settings you would have to re-program the correct setting. Did you program one touch speed dial on the line buttons? I do not see how programming a speed dial could effect accessing the CO lines unless you re-programmed the CO line buttons by mistake. If so, you would need to re-program those soft keys to line buttons. The manual you have may not cover this? The phone you have can work on a few different Panasonic phone systems. If you need a more detailed manual you will first need to know which Panasonic phone system you have. The phone part number WILL NOT help you determine which phone system you have. There is a main control unit somewhere (basement, utility closet, etc..)
