The TV has no backlight, yet I had the bulb tested and it works fine. I then took the TV to a technician and they've advised the ballast needs replacing and they contacted Sony Australia to order the part but Sony Australia advises the part is no longer made. I'm attempted to find one on the net to purchase from overseas, but parts stockers in America don't seem to list my model number so I'm wondering whether the model was re-badged for overseas market etc, and wondering what model number ballast I need to order. Many thanks, Jane D.
SOURCE: Replacement lamp
The lamp you received is correct. I own a lamp replacement company. It may of been pakaged incorrectly or maybe you received just the bulb and not the housing or vice versa (housing included). First, unless housing is damaged NEVER buy a new one...just the bulb will do. Housings are the biggest markup on replacement lamps. They are manufactired at a low cost and usually retailers drive up the lamp price because they include an uneeded housing. The bulb itself (XL-2100U) should be a round bulb. Check out my listing and compare this to what you received:
