SOURCE: Freedom 20 stops passing good AC input after about 15 sec.

This unit does have an idle mode where it will not output without a load. What I am unsure of is if this exists only for invert mode or for both invert and pass through. Try reprogramming the remote to eliminate the idle feature and then see what happens.

Appears to not be charging but does produce 110

Anytime external AC is being applied, the unit passes that AC input through to the output, independent of inverter/charger status. If external AC power is available but the unit is not charging (i.e. the Charge light is lit, but the batteries are not charging up as they should), then there is likely a problem with the AC sensing circuit card inside the unit, with a 1/4 amp fuse and/or the AC transformer the most probably culprits. Without external AC, the inverter will function all the way down to 10V, but then will shut off, so as long as your batteries have not been totally depleted, the unit will still be able to produce 110 AC after a brief charge cycle, but it won't for long.

How do you verify that the unit is charging the batteries? Freedom 20 Inverter charger

The really only way one can tell if batteries are being charged is assure them are topped off then trickle charge them with external charger overnight and then check the voltage is 13-14.5 VDC. If not check that battery life is not expired and exchange them if it is. ALSO... one can always extend the life of batteries (deep-cycle) by charging them with a large professional automotive unit in the high power START position over night. WARNING: Assure the caps are loose as you "boil away" the plate corrosion over night due to the very explosive H2 gas generated. No smoking!!

Xantrex 458 freedom....has stopped charging house batteries off of engine alternator. Alternator is showing that it works (dash gauge). It does charge while on shore power or generator....but not charging...

Fis\rst of all is the inverter supplying 120 VAC? when turned on?. If so the inverter seems to be working.I think your problem is in the truck alternator/charging system. The inverter is independent of this charger..

There is no ac output coming from the Freedom 25 inverter.

Assuming it was working correctly at some time in the recent past (i.e. not a new installation and/or changed wiring), the "Invert" light is off on the panel and will not come on when you press the button, battery voltage is between 10V and 15V and you don't have a bad battery/cell that pulls the entire bank down the instant the charging voltage is removed, and the unit is well-ventilated and not in thermal overload, the problem is most likely an internal failure which will necessitate taking the unit to a factory authorized service center, since Xantrex does not sell parts or schematics to the general public.

I have an old Heart Freedom 20 charger/ inverter. It was in charge mode when lightening struck nearby and now doesn't do anything. Fuses???

Unlikely. Most likely it is dead. These are typically not very robust units and are riddled with issues without the help of lightning. If you can comfirm that there is voltage making it to the main input terminals and it is not doing anything, then it is time for a replacement or a rebuild. If you are on the East Coast, there is a great place where I send all of my Freedom units for repair. It is calle Tekris Power Electronics and they are in NJ. Good Luck
