Works well for a while and then starts to skip words
If the machine has been off for a while and a tape inserted for transcription it works well. As the transcription proceeds it starts to "beep" and at this point I can't hear any transcription and have to keep backing up as the tape is still running ahead. Foot pedal et all working fine...just this skipping and only when the machine is in use for a while. If I turn it off and actually unplug it for a while removing all source of electricity, then it works again...but just for a while...seems like something heats up and that's when the problem begins. Solution?

You'll need a digital recorder (Dictaphone makes one - a Walkabout Model 5220). Transferring a recording from an analog (tape) machine to a PC requires a patch cord to hook it up to your PC, then some sort of software to record it while it's playing back.
Hello Press the PLAY and REWIND keys at the
same time the LCD display shows the fast
rewind symbol together with an S to indicate
that the tape is being erased backward. The
erase function continues until either the
beginning of tape is reached or another function is selected.
if this does not work Send an email to [email protected] or call (800) 644-9525. Please indicate model, serial and detailed description of problem
Hello on the right side of unit is a switch for transcribe make sure is on the on position you are going to see on Deck A only lines on display, put your tape on Deck B is the only side that transcribes if the pedal does not respond you probably have a broken pedal here is one in a great price http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-Sony-IN-75-Heavy-Duty-Foot-Pedal---Pre-Owned__ECS-PIN-75.aspx
Or if you feel better to send unit to service try this.

When this happens, in most situations it is the 4-position-slide component which is faulty (or loose between the notches). If you are UK based, contact BES in Luton for a repair (circa GBP70)
