Do any other devices or appliances spark when you plug them into the same outlet? If so, you may have a wiring problem, and you should have an electrician inspect the wiring as soon as possible.
If the iron is the only thing that sparks when you plug it into the outlet, there may be a wiring problem inside the iron, or the ground wire may not be connected. Irons are not generally expensive; you should replace the iron for safety's sake.

My iron doesnt have a on/off switch, so how do you unplug it without getting sparks?

you won't unless you install a switch in line of the power cord. in other words put a switch on the cord. You can get them just about any where ACE walmart Home depot. The reason it's doing that is because the heating element is being told to heat up right away. it's not going to hurt anything. it is a good idea to have a switch though

Leaky rowenta iron

Not a solution, but a word of caution. I have purchased several Rowentas, one more expensive than the previous one; all of them leaked. This time it went beyond a wet ironing board, there were sparks in the water tank near the temperature light. From the comments it seems the fix is GE.

Plug gets very hot and sometimes the iron doesn't work

your plug needs replacement. you have to put high wattage plug ,because iron has 1000watts or 4 amphere load.

When I plugged iron in sparks came out at wall and iron where the cord connects.

Hi,

If you've had this iron for a while it sounds like the cord may be frayed.
switch it off at the wall and unplug it, check the cord for wear, if the insulation is frayed, torn or broken and there are black burn marks on the cord where you saw sparks then the cord needs to be replaced.
DONT plug the iron back in until the cord is replaced.

Otherwise If there are no breaks or black burn marks on the cord, then your power point may be faulty and needs to be replaced!

I hope this was helpful

Model dx6250 just quit working while my wife was ironing. What Happened? No sparks or nothing going on cheked power cord and it gets juice to the control but nothing beyond that.

Hi rhmoreno,

The fuse in your iron might have sacrificed itself to save you and the iron. :)
Replacing the fuse with the exact same will solve your problem but for which you will have to open the iron and thoroughly scan it to find the fuse.

hope i solved your problem, if i did then please vote for me and rate for me too :)

Iron shorted out, sparks and blew a circuit breaker in room

Depends on where the sparks came from. If it was from the cord then yes, fix the cord. If it came from inside the iron then, maybe. You would have to open iron and see what caused it. If you are and electrician or technician then you could measure resistance and find problem.

The cord is worn out where it connects to the iron and sparks flew when using most recently...

you have a broken wire. unplug the iron, you should be able to remove the cover. you can repair the wiring or replace the chord.

Iron no longer charges

no batteries ! works by just heating the base element which then retains the heat simply by virtue of it's materials and mass.

the sparking sounds like a short in the circuitry or element. If so, no replacement parts or service is available that I have found yet. I own one too, and have been looking for a while ! mine still works but I need some cosmetic parts. If you are interested in selling to me for parts, please contact me @ [email protected] Thanks!

On off light never shuts off

Clarification: When you "switch off" the unit, does the light stay on, but the steamer itself shut off (cools off to no steam)? If this is the case, only the LED does not light (which will not affect actual performance, other than being a "false" indicator driving some users crazy) like an Engine light that stays on in your car. It is likely a bad connection rather than a bad LED (Light Emitting Diode indicator). If the steamer portion is powered on all the time regardless of the switch position, try turning the temperature settings all the way down on the base and iron before unplugging unit to prevent the arcing (sparks) from damaging the input AC plug.

Solution: you will need a small Security Torx Bit/Driver to take unit far enough apart to inspect, troubleshoot and determine cause. You will also need an analog or digital multi-meter to check the unplugged unit' switch using self-powered ohm-out (continuity check) function, testing forward & reverse diode for lo & hi resistance reading respectively, (if you use the Rx1 range, the diode will glow slightly in one direction if it is good & you use an old analog meter). If you are so inclined or know somebody into electronics to do this, you can get these tools at Harbor Freight for $10-$20, good luck and keep in touch.

My panasonic NI-R73NR iron went off and is not coming back on.

Check fuse in plug, check wire in plug for loose connection. Turn the thermostat a little higher to 'freeup' the contact mechanism. Check continuity with a ohm meter on the irom conacts, check lamp on iron
