Question about HTC G1
I got a htc g1 phone and i pattern lock it and forgot my pattern unlock code.and i did a factory reset but i have been unable to use my phone, its keep asking for my goggle account user name and password which i supplied but its says network problems.i cant even make a call or send a message because the goggle account screen is on the screen.
The factory reset removed the Google account data from your phone. When first setting up a phone, you pair the phone with a google account. On the off chance that was not the first thing you did after the factory reset, you may have to hard reset it again and then go through setup immediately to pair a Google account with the phone. If you have not paired the Google account with the phone during setup, you will not have Google access. If the setup offers a restore from backup (and you did have backup enabled previously), you can give that a go. It would restore settings.
But before you do that, you could try the following. I don't think they will work for you but the powers that be might smile upon you.
Try entering your user account name and when prompted for a password, enter the word "null". Afterward, set up a new pattern.
Alternatively, The G2/Hero's 'Forgot Pattern?' screen asks you to enter the Gmail address you signed in with and its password.
Here is another trick rather hard to describe as I can't write it in this forum. You know the letter x. Try writing it 3 times before the @ sign in the following two items below.
If you enter @gmail.com and then the password, then it will say it's not right. You need to enter @googlemail.com and then it will accept it the password, purportedly.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: T Mobile HTC G1 Dream?
Maybe now there arent some programs you would expect on the G1, this is the first phone on a completely new OS. give it a few weeks when Devs have started introducing programs on the Android marketplace that allow the extra missing parts of the phones capabilities to be Filled in such as Video recording, Video playback, Bluetooth A2DP etc. Just remember, Android is Completely customisable, Absolutely anything can be performed on the OS with the right program and phone specifications !

have you tried logging into gmail on another computer to be sure youre entering the password correctly? I had a similar issue & was able to reset my password & in turn unlocked my phone... short term memory loss sucks...

Go to Google online from any PC and select Gmail link from the top left corner. Then click on the "Can't access my account" on the right. Or go to this link: https://www.google.com/accounts/ForgotPasswd?service=mail&fpOnly=1
This should give you the info to enter into your phone. Also this is the same way to access your Gmail account online! All changes online will update on your phone, almost instantly!
