I cannot print a whole A4 page although the printer is set to A4 - ie labels only print one column

I recently sent a letter on A4 and it was OK. I thought I would print it again today, but it prints only the left half. The same with labels - only the left column prints. What am I doing wrong?

You can do several tests to understand where the problem is.1. Try to print a test page - Go to Printer Devices - Right click your printer and select Properties - Click Print Test Page button like on the picture below
I cannot print a whole A4 page although the printe - 11_29_2011_9_40_40_pm.jpgIf the result is still like your description, you are facing hardware problem like defective toner cassette or drum.2. Try printing from different sources - print a page from your browser like Internet Explorer - print a page from your Office Application like MS Office or OpenOffice - print from notepad - print from Image viewer application
If your printer prints only the left half of the page - this is definitely hardware problem. If you receive different results from different sources, find out wich one of them does the described printout and try to discover the setting that causes the problem and restore it.Sometimes when we talk about MS Office this problem is caused by Print Area setting. You can just Clear this Print Area from Page Layout like on the picture below.
I hope this was useful information for you!11_29_2011_9_56_30_pm.jpg

Thank you for all this information. Having checked page layout etc and found all in order, I decided to try turning off the printer and miracle of miracles it all behaved beautifully after that! How, I do not know. But thanks for your reply

When trying to print Avery Labels L7160 the top few labels print within each label 'frame' BUT towards the end of the page the labels are printed further up and therefore are out of the label 'frames' ALSO...

For Word 2007/Word 2010
1- Click on the Office button
2- Select Print then Print again.
3- In the Zoom section make sure 'Scale to paper size' is set to 'A4'
4- Click on the Properties button.
5- Click on the Paper / Quality tab, then click on Advanced.
6- In the Paper/ Output section it has Paper size. To the right you have a drop down menu . Make sure A4 is selected and not letter, then click on OK.

3- There may also be other options in your printing preferences such as 'Print Area', 'Scale to Fit Page Size' or 'Page Margins. These will all need to be set correctly for your design to print 100% e.g. Print Area set to Maximum, Scale to fit Page Size disabled and Page Margins set to Minimized.

Some printers ( for example Epson printers ) have a 'Reduce /Enlarge' facility that defaults to 94% or 97% (instead of 100%). To set this to 100% click the 'Layout' tab and in the 'Reduce/Enlarge' section select 'Custom' you should then be able to change the scaling to 100%.

I HAVE A PANASONIC WORKIO 8020, IT SAYS BYPASS A4- HOW DO I FIX THIS?

The computer has sent a A4 size document to the printer and the printer is asking you to put a A4 size piece of paper in the bypass tray so it can print it. It may be an email A4 size that someone has sent you or check the settings in Microsoft Word print or page setup to see if it is set for Letter size, not A4 size.

My hp laserjet 4 plus printer cannot print excel files

wherer are you printing this, A4 is european, north america would use letter, etc..
if you go to control panel, open the printers and faxes folder, right click the printer in question, a window will pop up, click on properties.. a new window should open. click on "Printing Defaults" or "Printing Preferences" then click on "Advanced" ( I believe it should be to the lower left) that will open another window, in paper size make it Letter if your in N America, A4 for Euro.. this will set the deafult print..
Click ok, then print a test page from the general tab..

The reason you getting this LOAD LETTER message. your excel page setup is set to print to letter, your machine is set to print top A4

If you open Excel then go to Print then a window should pop up where you select the printer you want to use, click on Properties, then Lay out, then Advanced, and input the correct paper size before you print.

does this happen with all excels files, or one particular?
Create a new Excel file, and try printing it.. possibly could be in that particular file. I have seen this happen alott particulary with PDF files.. Where the incorrect paper size is in the file..

Bottom Margin Cut Off! :(

Your printer prints Letter format. Set the printer to A4 standard printing. As I remeber this tab is in the printer in the country/region section. Select your language and as a country select the Cech Rep. Is one of the countryes that uses A4 standard

Keep getting "11 load letter in tray 1" message

Are the print jobs being sent to printer all the same page size?

Are they all print jobs sent letter page size and your printers cassettes are set for A4 or something?

Your printer is asking for letter size paper, because any paper it has is not set to letter  and document that it is trying to print has been sent as that size.

Check what options you have on print driver on pc as far as Tray defaults, paper type and size settings

Check printer settings via its keypad as to tray defaults, paper size set for each tray and paper type, some printers have paper size switchs on their trays too.
