First check the door is locked in place , even its closed properly and the light flashes then you may need to replace the door switch on the oven ......

Good luck...

The range thinks the door is not fully unlocked. This occurs most often when the door latch is moved (ie: someone tries to open the oven door) before the oven has cooled enough. This results in a slight bending of the door latch bar, and the door latch switch is not satisfied. Generally, you have to get to the door latch mechanism from the top side, under the stove top, remove the latch assembly, bend the door latching lever back slightly into it's original shape, and reinstall.

After you cancel the self-clean cycle, just press and hold the light switch; the "locking mechanism" resets itself and then the door will close. Otherwise you may have to open up the panel and disconnect the "locking arm" to reset it.

let me know if neither of these work

My GE wall oven is stuck on lock mode. I cancelled a self clean (I know, big mistake) and after cooling down it still won't unlock. I've cut the power and still nothing. It's been 3 days! Trying to avoid...

Try putting it back in self clean. Listen to see if it locks. then cancel the self clean. It could be the self clean lock motor has gone bad. The lock hook can be moved to unlock the door by inserting a stiff wire like a coat hanger between the door and the oven and moving the latch over to unlock the door.

Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

My oven is flashing a F10 code and the door is locked. This happened while the oven was in self cleaning mode

more than likely the tco thermal cutout fuse has opened during cleaning and now the ovens latch motor cant get power to open, its under the top cover where the surface elements are located its a frequent thing with all ovens/stoves

How can i unlock my oven kenmore

Hello,Try putting it back into clean mode and and listen for the lock motor to start turning. If you can hear it, keep trying the door until it opens. Don't hold steady pressure on the latch, just pull a little then let off. After you get it open, hold in on the door switch and cancel the clean mode and it should go back to correct position.
If this doesn't work, you may have a failed door latch, control, temp sensor, or switch.

Thanks

The lock will not release after cleaning

This is GE's trouble shooting advise:

Range - Oven Door Won't Unlock After Self Clean

The Oven Door has been Locked Accidentally:

  • If no food or utensils are in oven, put it into a short self-clean cycle (1-2 hours).

  • If there is food in the oven, let the oven cool to room temperature and try to unlatch the door.

  • With electronic ranges there is a small chance that turning the circuit breaker off for a few minutes and turning it back on can release the door. latch to the "off"

  • Note: Do not force the latch at anytime!

Door Will Not Unlock After Cleaning:

On models with mechanical latches:
  • Once the oven is cool after a self-clean cycle (approximately 30-90 minutes), slide the latch over to the left.(Some older models have a latch release button that must be pushed in while sliding the latch over.)
Note: Some models with oven Set and Temperature knobs must have those knobs set in the Clean position before the latch can be moved to the left. If your door won't unlock, try turning those knobs back to Clean, then slide the latch over.

If the above suggestions do not work try the following to unlock your door:
  1. Disconnect power to range for 30 seconds.
  2. Reconnect power and see if door will unlatch.
  3. If door does not unlatch, and you do have food in the oven, wait for oven to cool completely and try again. If it still will not open you will need service.
  4. If door does not unlatch, and you do not have food in the oven, set the oven up to clean for 1-2 hours.
  5. Wait approximately 30 minutes and try to unlock the door.
  6. If the door unlocks, the control has reset itself and there should not be any other problems.
  7. If the door will not unlock or if you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment on-line.
Note: Under no circumstances should you ever force the door or latch open.

Oven door will not unlock

Hello,, Some times this will happen after a self clean cycle if the timer did not finish the entire clean. Try to set the clock to start the self clean again then simply end the self clean. This should unlock the door. If the door remains locked. You may check the oven for an error code, or the door latch itself may need to be replaced. One other possible would be to turn off the power to the oven and try to let the oven control reset. leave the power off for about 15 minutes then turn the power back on. That will sometime work aswell. Good luck and feel free to call me if you need more help.

Oven door won't unlock after self clean

Try unplugging it. If that does not work, try to use a flat object like a butter knife, to move the latch (between handle, and top of stove.) Other than that... have a handy guy you know come look at it....

Cant unlock self clean oven door

Door lock motor has probably failed.....Self clean on many ovens can be a self destruct mode. Door latch motors, sensor probes and even the electronic controls can be destroyed by this operation. Suggest oven cleaner method.
