Dell Inspiron N5030 Shuts Off Unexpectedly

My Dell Inspiron N5030 is about 9 months old. It works fine when it is plugged in, but once unplugged, if you jostle it around it powers off. It's almost as if somehow the battery connection is interrupted but I have no idea how to see if this is the problem or what to do to fix it. I don't want to buy a new battery if the problem is where it connects into the actual laptop.

SOURCE: My Dell Inspiron 1501 won't charge

If you're covered, Dell can replace the power converter on the motherboard for you. Yes, I have experience with this and yes, that should fix it.

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 1545 power adapter not charging machine

Just call Dell, don't take it back to Best Buy or anything (that's where I got my Inspiron 1565). They will put you through a couple troubleshooting items and decide whether it's the AC adapter went bad or if they have to replace your motherboard. It's all free since they have a 1yr hardware warranty.

SOURCE: MY DELL INSPIRON N5030 IS

If we are talking about the BIOS password (the password that come out before Windows loads up) you need to contact Dell Technical Support. They will need to verify your ownership of the laptop and if you are able to do so, they will provide you with a generic password to unlock the BIOS.
You need to get the local technical support number from the Dell support website (support.dell.com)

Dell inspiron said battery low plug into charger, when plugged in charger light goes out and laptop will not power on, why?

Remove the main battery from the laptop and try power, if it works the battery is bad, if no change the charger needs to be checked for proper voltage. Since your laptop is less than a year old you should have warranty for up to the year, check this asp and find your paperwork should verify.

Hello my Dell inspiron has a white screen upon start up but once it's on the login screen it's fine after that is it the cable coming loose or a bad video chip plz help?

Try connecting an externalmonitor to the Dell Inspiron and see if the white screen is also presenton the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop's LCD displaypanel is defective. If the monitor also displays the white screen, then yourproblem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside yourlaptop. Also try booting the computer in safe mode by tapping the key when you turn it on. If it works that way you might have a video software driver issue.

Dell Inspiron N5030 refuses to boot. When it is turned on, the ON LED light stays on for a minute & goes off. There is no display on the screen. But when it is plugged to A/C, it stays on for a while...

The first thing to check for is loose ram, battery, a loose hard drive or any loose cards.
Pop the cover off the bottom, reseat the ram battery and hard drive and try booting again.

If that does not work try booting off a copy of Puppy linux on a live CD. Puppy runs only in ram and will allow you to bypass a bad hard drive to get a system running. Puppy also has system testing tools that you can check your hard drive with.

Hi can you tell me where I can get XP drivers on a dell inspiron N5030

Here is a website I found containing drivers for the Dell inspiron N5030 for XP. While I haven't tried the drivers myself, it does list the specifications of the laptop, and lists each driver for each hardwar.

Changed the power jack on my dell inspiron 6000. now the thing won't start up, just blinks 9 times and then shuts off

did you use flux ?
it really helps the contacts from burning out
there is 7 to 9 soldier points in that jack
and the pin on the other side sometimes needs just a tiny bit,but you can work on this all apart very difficult, but you can check after each time you touch the connections with iron
be sure its unplugged each time, when done plug in to make sure your getting the lights you want before finally unplugging the iron
to reassemble
