I bought my digital player a year ago, and have recieved the user manual, but it looks like french to me. I have no idea how to work the thing. Also I don't believe I have the cable to attach the device to my computer. I do have the ac power supply. I have figured out the radio, but don't know how to use the rest. How do I get a step by step guide?

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. I have put together a picture that shows where the mini-USB plug is supposed to be attached to the camera. I hope it helps. This picture actually shows plugging the AV cable into the receptical, but right behind it is the mini-USB port. This is where you connect the USB cable. It looks like you have to lift the flap on the corner to reveal the plugs.

the songs on and mp4 digital player only playsa song for about 4to 5 seconds then it goes to another song for a very short time again

It's a Sony - go to Sony's website, and look at the pictures they have of their mp3 players until you find the pictures that matches up.
