Manual first!
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number! Which tray?
A quick and easy way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes.
In a few cases I have come across the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.

That door may have a safety pin that only releases the door when the dryer is off. If the relay that operates it is dead, it will not pull back to release the door.
If you know how to visually inspect the inside front of the dryer, you can do so with a flashlight... to see if the wire has fallen from the relay. If everything looks good, try to tap on it a few time to release is from the door.
