I can't get my rear left speaker to work for my LG LHT854

Just bought a LG System (LHT854), I hooked up all the speakers correctly but I can't get my rear left speaker to work. All the other speakers work fine and everything is hooked up according to its color code. I've tried to test the sound with the SETUP option and I get no sound nor with a fully functional DVD with surrond sound capability. I've tried switching the speakers, thinking it might be the speaker that doesn't work but no dice. So if anyone can help, please do!

SOURCE: LG LHT854 Speaker issue

Have you tried the VSM (Virtual Sound Matrix) button on the remote? I think you will have to scroll through the various sound processors ie..stage...virtual matrix..etc...to find the one that will have all surround speakers working. Hope this helps

SOURCE: lg lht854....wont play sound out of rear and center speakers

Try setting it first on surround mode because it is normal for the rear speakers not to come on when it is the surround mode is off. For the center speakers make sure it is hooked up properly. Follow the instruction if you have one. Lastly I never heard of center speakers have two speakers in it but if it does and you only have one set of wire to it then one of the speakers is no good.

SOURCE: I just bought a LHB975,

If the unit is less than 12 months old, take it to an authorised repair agent for repairs. You shouldn't have to pay anything if it's a fault of faulty workmanship or anything else under that description if the unit is still under it's under 12 months. If it's not covered by warranty, I'm afraid that you will find everywhere charges a diagnostic fee.

Hello,
In a surround sound system, the correct way to listen to music is in stereo mode which will play out of your left and right channels and your subwoofer. When viewing a movie with surround sound, then you should use your rear speakers. The key element to remember is that rear speakers are only intended to play your sound effects, and will not play full range audio. Thats what your fronts and center are for. If you simply want to override this, than you will need to select the direct sound field on your receiver and than it will send full range audio to all speakers connected. Most likely, its not going to sound that good. If you dont know what each sound field does, here is a list and function of the most commonly used ones.
Stereo-Front Left and Right speakers including subwoofer
Dolby Digital or PLII Movie-these are the bost options for your surround sound
Direct-All speakers connected get full range signal
Good Luck

I have an almost exact set-up and you will only get sound out of your rear speakers when the TV channel is broadcasting in 5.1 Ch Stereo. Otherwise the sound is limited to your front, center, and woofer speakers.

Center speaker and wireless rear speakers have no sound

I had the same issue, but apparently...it's not an issue. What I discovered is that the system was fine, but the station I was watching didn't broadcast in 5.1 surround sound. Therefore, only the front speakers will have sound. Try putting a dvd in, or listening to a gameing system through it. If you don't have sound after listening to something that puts out full surround sound, then you know you have an issue.

Is there any way to run an Xbox 360 through it to

if you hook up a fiber optic cable from your main dvd component thingy straight to your tv, then all sound from tv will come out the left and right front speaker and sub woofer. only downside is your center and rear speakers wont be in use, but its better than nothing. your tv of course has to have an input for the fiber optic cable.

I bought the LG LHT854 and i dont know how to connectthe speakers because i dont know which ones are the front speakers and rear speakers, all 4 speakers are the same and i dont know how wich is wich..

All four of the small speakers are identical, the original speaker wires are color coded. the very ends are all black and red, corresponding to the black and red connections on the back of the receiver and on the speaker, and there is another color band lower on the wire, which corresponds to the color on the receiver speaker connectors that details front right, front left, rear right, rear left, center, subwoofer.

If you are using standard speaker wire, it has two colors. Pick one for the red, and one for the black.
Just be consistent and connect all speakers the same at both ends (Copper color to plus-red / silver color to minus-black)
