Casio digital cammera

After powering ON, the lens extends, the camera makes a whirring noise, then shuts down.
I've put a new battery in, but this hasn't helped. (And in view mode, all is fine)
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Diego

I have the same problem exactly, and also tried a new battery! I bought it off Ebay for a low price, having been made aware of the problem, and hoped it could be fixed cheaply.

Are you sure the battery is charged?

put the battery on the charger.
is it blinking red or does it stay red?

if it's blinking red, it won't charge correctly unless you do this:

MATERIALS: 9 volt battery, 2 pieces of wire the same length, casio battery

DIRECTIONS: connect the + sides of each battery with a wire, and the - sides of each battery with another wire. [I just held them there, but maybe you can tape them if you're having trouble.] Hold it for 30 seconds. Then try charging it. If it doesn't work keep trying it until it does. TRUST ME! It took me 5 times to do it effectively.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Lens opens, just continuously clicking then shut down

I have a Casio Exilim EX-Z33 and i dropped it a while ago and it continued to work (kind of, the images were a bit blurry). i took a picture five minutes ago and then turned it off. the lens went in but...

Sounds like the focus motor came loose - you need to take it apart and repair the gear that drives the lens assembly for focusing. The noise you're hearing is the motor trying to focus but since the lens cannot focus it continues to run and signals an error.

Casio Z750 says, "Lens Error" on start up, and then shuts down?

A lens error has to be sent into repairs or else you need to buy a new camera. Repairs is 800-706-2534 and then choose extension for repairs.
