I have a license for Aldus Page Maker 5.0, however the software is still on 1.44Mb stiffies. I want to install the softyware on a new laptop but do not have a 1.44 ****** drive. Can I download the software from a site and use my existing license?

You will have to uninstall it from your laptop first because the license key is still in use.
So it depends on how you bought the software for the old computer.
Only one one type of MS license is transferable to a new computer. It is known as a FPP license. Typically you get a FPP license by buying the Retail (big ugly ecologically insensitive, mind bending) Yellow Plastic box With the CD in it. You can also get FPP licenses electronically, but you have to ask for them specifically and pay a little more.
Other MS licenses include:
*MLK (Medialess Key) ie electronic download,
*OEM, preinstalled by manufacturer.
*PKC, Product Key Card
These licenses are typically sold at at discount from the retail price.
You have to figure out what type of license you have.
If you have a FPP license, to transfer it, you simply uninstall it from the old machine and install it on the new machine. In theory, internet activation should be automatic, but you may have to phone activation and explain to the service rep. During install and activation you are given option of doing internet or phone activation.
So without further investigation you could simply do the uninstall, install and see what happens. If you have to do the phone activation the SR will explain to you that the product key does not quality for transfer.

You got to have a DVDRW burner and burning software that is compatible to to new Operating system Windows 7. Go check or refer with your PC/Laptop vendor whether the DVDRW free burning software is compatible to Win 7,since you mention you bought the software??? Windows operating system or the burning softyware.

Yep if you have bought an OEM or personal license you can only install the software for one PC.

You will need a volume license (the least you can get is normally 5) to legally install or just buy another license on-line for the laptop. You will be able to use the same CD to install the software just need to buy the serial number.

Fixya does not give free licenses. You will have to purchase for a genuine license for your own use. Acquiring a free Adobe Pagemaker license would mean software piracy and is punishable by law.

Hi. The missing dictionaries should be located on the Aldus Pagemaker disk you installed from. If you did not install from a disk, you may have to download the dictionaries from the Aldus web site, if you have an authorized copy and your product is registered.

Funny your mention Aldus - they have been out of business for years now since they were bought out out by Adobe. This is very old software and cannot be run on anything but an old computer (vintage 10 years ago or so). Depending on the OS you are running, you can still get away with using PM 6.5 or 7.0 on XP or Mac OS9. PM is no longer made. InDesign is the replacement page layout program for newer systems.
