Most high-definition movie recordings are in 1080p format. Your video player would have to send the video as 1080i before the TV will play it if the TV is set to 1080i. (Theoretically, 1080i would do better on high-speed action, but 1080p is less prone to odd visual effects such as Moire banding, so that is usually the preferred format, especially given the improvements in video processing speed over the last decade.)

Hi,I have a XP-65DHD RUNCO PLASMA DISPLAY when I want to play a blu-ray movie on 1080p the screen starts flickering so I have to watch the movies on either 1080i or 720p,I really don't know what to do

If you got a blueray player (the hardware) it should have come with a disk with software. If you got the OEM version without, you need to buy your own software. PowerDVD should work. If you are somehow looking to download something to play bluray disks on a PC without an actual bluray player, you need to buy the drive.

Why can't i see 1080p programs on my directv hd dvr? The test on the hdr says my receiver doesn't receive 1080p. My tv is a Sharp LC-62C42U which is suppose to receive 1080p!

Your DVR can't detect whether your TV can do HD or not. If the message is stating that your receiver (which is your DVR) can't receive 1080P, then you'll need to contact DirecTV for assistance. You may need to replace your DVR.

Is my Protron 3250 1080P?

Unfortunately it is not compatible with 1080p, which tells you it can support blue ray. The highest compatible mode for your unit is 1080i. What this means is if you were to play a blue ray movie it will show it in 1080i resolution.

Blue ray wont play movies on new tv

Are you sure the tv is 1080p capable? Usually when "mode is not supported" is displayed, it means that the tv can not handle the signal format that is being input to it. If you are using HDMI, then signal formatting is usually handled automatically. If you are using component video, you will probably have to tell the PS3 to step down the signal to either 1080i or 720p.

Sharp Aquos LC-32D43U

To adjust screen size, choose the View Mode feature on the top right of the remote control. Zoom size is full screen for watching DVD movies, but sometimes there is still a thin black band due to the formatting of the dvd (unless you buy full screen versions) S. Stretch view mode is best for TV Movies.(usually fills whole screen) Occasionally there are TV movies which just don't respond to being stretched to fill the screen, it's just the way the signal is coming through . 1080i/p detects the resolution of the signal and displays the same number of pixels on the screen, but a 720p signal input will be viewed in full screen.

Problem with dvd playback on Digimate 3203h

On some LCD TV there is a filter for image correction, look in the TV menu and try to turn off this filter if available, also there might be a setting for full screen (stretch) and so on, play around with that.

hope this helps
