This has happened to me a couple of times now. Press cancel to get out of the mode and then press both on/off and start/cancel at the same time. When i did this the screen displayed 'Doff' and then i was able to select the wash programme and it worked.

Unplug the machine for at least half an hour to eliminate the possibility of an electronic glitch. Then upon plugging in back, close the door then push CONTROL/ON (if present on this model). Select the DRAIN/SPIN cycle then select NO SPIN by pressing the SPIN SPEED button. Push PREWASH OPTION four times within five seconds. If PREWASH OPTION is not present on this model, press EXTRA RINSE four times within five seconds. C:00 will light up on the display. If the Starting procedure fails, push the PAUSE/CANCEL button then repeat the starting procedure.
In order to advance to the next step of the test procedure, push PREWASH OPTION button two times. If PREWASH OPTION is not present on this model, press EXTRA RINSE two times. The test program goes from C:00 to C:08 and should flash an error code when a problem is present. Post the code back for further troubleshooting, including the exact model number of the machine.
Error code F9 means an error with motor or motor tacho failure. Try resetting the error by pressing quick and prewashing buttons together while turning the knob to gentle spin. All LED's will glow, now turn the knob back to Off and the machine should work. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

DIAGNOSTIC TEST The control must be in the OFF state before pressing the touch-pad sequence to start the test. Starting the test mode Close the door. Press the Control On button. Lets run a diagnostic test selecting drain/spin, on spin speed select no spin then press prewash quickly twice, watch for F error codes and write them down, press prewash again to advance past error code seen. Then post back because there are several issues here that can cause this, motor sensor errors, serial communication errors, pump and drain siphon issues.

Looks like a he4 model so try this hit drain/spin and on spin speed select no spin, finally press prewash quickly two or three times. A C:0 will appear and the machine will self test. The tech manual is behind the kick panel on the bottom secured with either a 1/4 or 9/32 hex screw, then look right at the side panel for a pouch for the paper.

Your test mode is on, maybe accidently. Press "start", "cancel", "on" & "off" together for 10 secs, you will see d/off come on the display. Do the same & the test mode comes on again.
