We have a narrow pink tinged band at the top of the set. It is about 6 inches high and runs horizontally across the entire top of the screen, in more or less a straight line. It does not affect focus. We have been experiencing this for several months and I thought it might have to do with the lamp coming to the end of its useful life.
The lamp finally failed, and I successfully replaced it. The television is working fine, again, but the pinkish band is still there. Any ideas?

Please make sure you have the Lamp seated properly in the set. If you purchased just the lamp without the basket make sure it is Flush against the front of the lamp basket. The light path is being obstructed or not aimed properly. Let me know, hope this helps.

Please call sony Optical Block warranty extended to June 30, 2010
SOURCE: Pink bar across top of tv screen
This could be from 2 things. 1 is the optical block is going bad or 2 you got a peice of dust blown in from the cooling fan and its blocking the color filter internally. If you are capable you can take the tv apart and blow compressed air into the color block and remove the dust. Hope this helps
SOURCE: my sony KDF-50E2000 TV has screen message coming
Yes XL2400 is correct number. Replace Lamp message is a timed message that will reset and turn off if you unplug TV when lamp is removed and replaced.
