Thanks for this Mike - I can test with meter but can't locate the thermostat. Can you advise? Would it be at the base or close to the digital display in the fridge itself. Best......

It turned out to be the motorised baffles that connect Fridge to Freezer. They often stick apparently. Thermostat was fine. Cost to repair was $150NZD

BJ515V ... my fridge is freexing everythying my freezer is -18.. I have tried my frisge on 3 4 5 & 6 and no change the panel is on the front of the frisge

all freezing? I would suspect the defrost terminator? its realitively inexpensive and easy to fix? located in freezer behind the backwall and attached to the evaporator coils. if thats not it then ur defrost timer is bad? and of course ur heating element itself may have gone bad? all can be checked with a multi meter. u can try a trick to turn on ur defrost timer by placing a small philips screwdriver in the tiny slot under the timer where u see a whole and turn it clockwise slowly till u hear it click just one click not 2 then the defrost will come on and u should hear the fan and compressor go off?

Zanussi zrb324nwo fridge not chilling.freezer forming ice/frost

Sounds like a defrost component Dave Start by turning the defrost timer slowly clockwise until refrigerator stops running and then stop. Open freezer and look and feel. Is defrost beginning to melt the ice?

Defrost cycle is very often. Check freezer timer/thermostat might be cuts off frequently. Check thermostat setting..Check fridge is working continuously until frosting over freezer by keeping thermostat at 9' clock position. If not replace thermostat.

Freezer & fridge warms up on average every 6-8 weeks. Remedy turn off and leave 24 plus hours with doors open. On turning on the fridge and freezer cool down again to operating temperature....

Good day,
That's too long a period, for a normal. defrost system failure.
You'll have to wait until it quits, then remove the rear panel and look for ice (not frost) building up somewhere in the freezer compartment.
I have solved similar problems on this model, by replacing the defrost thermostat with a GE 60 degree thermostat, and a WR9X330 GE 6 hour defrost timer to get this model to defrost completely.

It's also possible that the refrigerant charge is slightly low, causing the defrost thermostat not to reach a cold enough temperature to perform a good defrost cycle. (building ice over a long period of time).

Make sure Freon 12 was used when replacing the compressor.
Some substitutes caused the evaporator coil to act as if it was
slightly low on charge.

I have a westinghouse upside down fridge what tempereture should it be for freezer/refrigerator? cos its pretty to cold like bit of ice goes in the meat packages.

The fridge should be between 2 and 5 degrees C or 36 and 41 degrees F and the freezer should be between -18 and -25C and 0 and -13 defgrees F. If you cant get the temp right then call a service engineer asazp.

Freezer not working

Your refrigerator has a Control-defrost,adaptive timer ,PC board part number 241508001
This is providing your model is the one listed above your post WRS3R3EW. The model you listed in post does not come up. Until we can determine that the freezer is not defrosting you need to unplug and remove the back panel of freezer compartment to see if the evaporator coils are frozen or clear. If frozen this alone will cause a chain reaction that keeps vents to fresh food compartment open and cause freezing in that area. Go to link below and enter model number WRS3R3EW0 Then you will see a list of diagrams on left side, chose #11 this will show the control parts. Click link below Thanks, Sea Breeze

Westinghouse Wse6100WA side by side Fridge-icing up/not cooling

This is a bad design flaw, the fridhe is cooled by fan forced air from the freazer. Two ducts vent into and out of the fridge fron the freezer and ice can block them up (which you can find if you take off all the plastic at the top and back of the fridge).
Hence, when they block up, the frindge does not cool, hence the thermostat tells the fridge to keep running which makes the freezer colder and colder, making the blockage worse.

You need to not only fully defrost the freezer (which can be done quicker by removing the plastic panel in the back of the freezer and using a hairdryer) BUT also fully dry the fridge before turning it back on.
To stop it happening again, avoid puting unvovered liquids or hot items in the fridge. Also avoid leaving the fridge and freezer doors open for long especially in humid conditions. As I said, it's a bad design.
