When you change a hard drive from one PC to another you have to do a fresh install. The problem is caused with the registry. In other words, the hard drive remembers where is was conntected to and records all of the hardware on your PC to a sepecial datebase called a registry, when you start it up it looks for all of that hardware and if its not there it fails to boot.

Good day I am in need of drivers for an LG external HDD hxd7.Reason being my laptop will not recognise the hdd but sometimes it does.

Hi

You do not say which operating system you are using.

You do not say which type of computer this is (laptop or desktop).

Most operating systems do not need extra drivers to recognize a hard drive. The drivers are almost certainly already built into your operating system to operate almost any hard drive.

It could be a faulty USB port (try a different USB Port) or a faulty USB cable (try a different USB cable).

If the cable and port are not the problem, then either the hard drive itself or the hard drive enclosure are faulty (open the enclosure and test the hard drive in a hard drive dock or another (custom) external hard drive enclosure.

I hope this helps.

Hi, there could be multiple reasons for this error. How old is your hard drive? Did you unplug the device while transfering file to it. You could try to replug it on the last pc where it was working and try to do a scandisk. Thanks

Says "access denied"

It means that your System Administrator (IT people) shut off the USB ports so you can not bring in outside files -or- remove files from your work computer.

Some companies do this for security reasons.

The only way around this is to contact your System Administrator or IT people and state that you need the USB ports activated...
But they may say no to your request due to company security standards.
