Husky 2600 pressure washer with honda gcv160 engine. engine won't run with choke off.

  • Anonymous Aug 19, 2013

I had this same problem. I replaced the carborator <$25.00 and all is good. I suspect it is the Ethanol Gas. I found a station that is 100% pure. Add a little srabilizer and have eliminated 95% or my small engine carborator issues.

I tried rebuilding the carb at first. no go. But for $25.00 for a new one I didn not try that hard.

I bought mine at Home Depot, the pump failed after about 8 hours of use then Home Depot agreed to replace it now it failed again after aabout 10 hours of use. This is a piece of crap and Home Depot should be ashamed for selling this junk. I am sure they are in with Husky and making big dollars on a crappy product. My machine is like brand new just will not work. Now the carb has to be replaced only after less than 20 hours.

remove the pressure hose and turn your water supply on and water should flow thru the pump on out where the pressure hose is. If not you have a blockage in the pump.

SOURCE: pressure washer not working

OK here is the solution. There are six plastic vaules inside the pump if you have any mechanical skills you can fix this.
These plastic valves melt when you leave your pressure washer running for a short period when you are not pressure washing. once this happens the pump becomes cloged and does not function. I spent alot of time and research on finding the parts for replacement. I called the main company of this washer pump and here is the toll free number
800-999-2245 and the web sight www.pressureparts.com but to save time just call and talk to the service tech tell him you model number and he will give you the part number.
I only paid $13.75 plus shipping around $5.50 I do not work or have any intrest in this comapny but I tell you after all the frustration and run around I had trying to fix this Home depot power washer I deesided to help eveyone else out
I can be reached at [email protected] if you have any other questions

SOURCE: My Husky pressure washer 2600 psi powered by a gcv

It sounds like the (RMW 2.2 G24) pump has gone out. Mine had this problem after about 6 hours of use. I was able to order a new pump for around $160.00, and then installed it myself. Go figure it was just out of warranty. I think my next pressure washer will be one with a professional pump as I was told the one on my husky is only rated for about 40 hours of use.

Choke adjustment

The manual is on this link: http://engines.honda.com/parts-and-support/owners-manuals/GCV160 The manual depends on the serial number. It does not appear to have adjustable choke.

Honda gcv160 pressure washer washer has no pressure. Water flows well through it, but no pressure.

I would be happy to advise you further and give you more detailed answers then the others have. Guessing at an engine or unloader problem will not actually assist you in getting your pressure washer up and running again. The most important question is, what is your pressure washer model number? That is the first part of this process. Honda is just the manufacturer of the engine that you have. They don't build pressure washers. If you can provide the model number, you should be able to find this on the cart or frame of the unit, then I can determine what pump you actually have and assist you in determining the actual problem to get your pressure washer up and running again. There are a few issues that can cause this problem, all of which can probably be repaired with minimal cost. If you can provide me with more information I would happy to assist.

Gcv160

Clean it up real well and try again. Most likely the oil is from the motor being put in a position that allows the oil to run into spots that it is not supposed to be in.

Sounds like debris in the carburettor. The carbs on these are relatively simple things which come apart easily. Check for debris or water in the float-bowl, and ensure both your idle and main jets are clear and you can see daylight through them.

Honda power washer only runs in choke will not run with choke off

It is starving for fuel. Replace the fuel filter first thing. If that does not solve the problem then the carburetor needs to be dissembled and cleaned. It may also be some trash inside the fuel tank partially blocking the fuel inlet.
