1) To reset your password on the Sylvania SYNET 07526, you could disconnect both the internal battery and the power supply for about 15-30 minutes to let the memory dissipate, letting the whole memory reset. You CAN THEN RE-ENTER A NEW PASSWORD BY GOING TO: My Computer>Control Panel>Owner>then enter a NEW PASSWORD. 2) If that doesn't help, download the new Operating System from "digitalgadgets.com" website onto your main computer and load the "Script" portion of that download onto an SD Card; then using that SD card, insert it into the SD port on the SYNET 07526 and let it load. Reboot the netbook and follow all usual operating procedures from there on. See my other solution for "setting baud rate". If you're simply going to use te netbook as a wi-fi device using a hotspot (via RT28701)- baud rate and passwords are UNNECESSARY settings. The challenge in getting this lil' stinker to work is worth the time. It's a LEARNING EXPERIENCE!
This one have a wireless card built in ..and apparently has a problem with it ..but on the support site there is a fix for it and instructions ..download them both and follow instruction to install the fix.. here is the link http://www.sylvaniacomputers.com/product.php?id_product=41 I suggest to download the instructions and read them carefully first ..
You have to follow specific instructions alluded to on www.digitalgadgets.com. If you fail to first unzip the download before writing to the SD card, then what you described will happen. Please see my TIP at: http://www.fixya.com/support/r7350901-fix_synet07526_wifi_flashing
Try taking it apart and pulling out the CMOS battery for 2 minutes. Then put the CMOS battery back in and turn it back on. Hopefully leaving out the CMOS battery will make the motherboard forget the BIOS password.
