I cannot find anything on the menu on the tv set that will turn the CC off.
I cannot find it on my main menu. When I navigate to audio, there is nothing about Closed Captioning. Is there a second page to the main menu? If so, how do I get there - there isn't any indicator on my TV.I cannot find it on my main menu. When I navigate to audio, there is nothing about Closed Captioning. If you have the original remote control, there will be a button marked "CC", and pressing it once, the closed caption funciton will turn OFF, and for an other press, it will re-appear. Now, here you are using a universal remote control. So it will be difficult to make closed caption. Try to enter its function menu by using present remote control, where you can make this funicion OFF, if you could enter into it.
You must have its original remote control, which will have 'CC; button on it. you have to press this button once to cancel the Closed Caption option. If you can acccess the Menu of the tV by your present universal remote contro,; get into TVs Menu option, surf through, come to closed capation adjust window, and cancell [OFF] the closed caption option.
Usually you can turn on the closed captioning from the remote. There (should) be a button labeled "cc" that you just need to press once or twice until you get the closed captioning style you want. If your remote doesn't have this button, or if you don't have a remote, you could try two things. First, you could try (i'm not sure if this would work) going into the tv menu itself and searching for the closed captioning part, or you could just go out and buy a universal remote that has the "cc" key.
I hope this helps!

On the remote - Press "Clear" button
May have to turn off CC in the TV menus. Try Menu on the remote and look for closed caption there.
If remote doesn't work, can try with buttons on TV itself to get into menu and turn it off.
I can't figure out how to turn the cc off either. I went to menu and then audio then captions and off but they still won't go off. The captions are only on when I am watching HD channels. Anyone know why?
