Dell Inspiron 2200 Charger Malfunction

I recently plugged in my Inspiron 2200 laptop into an outlet. There was a power surge, and the lights in our house flicked off. I apparently tripped the breaker. Anyway, ever since then, my power meter on my laptop reads "14%: 159:52 hours." Also, the LED light that indicates my charger is plugged in does not turn on. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? I initially thought my charger was fried, but my laptop hasn't died.

Try to turn off the computer and remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook. Turn on the computer with just the charger plugged in. If it doesnt turn on. you may have a bad power port.

If it has no power/charging issue since that happened except that the indicator light doesnt turn on when you plug in the charger, you may just need a bios update. Click here. That's the bios update for the inspiron 2200 from dell's website. You should have at least 30% charge on the battery and the ac adapter should be plugged in so you can run it. The computer will restart and will come back normally after this. I'd suggest that you backup your files before running this.

Charging light is flashing

There are two possible causes for this issue:
1) Your dell 9400 charger is malfunction
2) Your laptop dc power jack is loose or dead

Possible troubleshooting step:
1) Borrow a compatible dell charger to plug in your laptop, if it works without any issue, it means your dell inspiron 9400 adapter need to be replaced.

2) If the compatible dell 9400 charger won't work normally, the problem may lie in your dc power jack.

Hope this will help.

Dell inspiron 1520 won't turn on.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

Dell Inspiron 1000 won't turn on. It is always

Well if it is always plugged to the wall then the laptop's power jack is the common problem there. You can have a Computer Technician check it and diagnose it for you. Be careful how much you pay, if that is the problem (i'm pretty sure it has to be) you can shop for the part online (ebay is a good place to find them for around ten bucks) and hand it to the computer guy. Otherwise you may be charged a fortune to get it fixed. Next time, use a power surge between the power adapter and the wall's power outlet.
Here's is a brief explanation of what happens with the power jack. Inside of it there are two or three pieces of metal that look like thick wires and what they do is transfer the current to the laptop. Eventually they wear out and break (common cause is having your laptop plugged to the wall continously exposing it to all sorts of power surges). Hope it helps, good luck.

Hi, The battery light on my Inspiron 6000 flashes 3 times red and then green repeatedly. What does this mean? Also, after the computer is plugged into an outlet for an extended period of time the power...

the battery has reached its expected life, you need to replace it. If it is under warranty, you can call dell and have them replace it. You can still use you laptop with the wall power/charger plugged in, remove the battery to get rid of the flashing red/green light.

Dell Inspiron 2200 has been working fine, But now won't turn on.

1. Try and check the voltage output of your adapter using any ordinary voltmeter. It should have a voltage reading close to the dc rating printed at the back of your laptop.

2. Even if you have problem with battery, the laptop should power on. Otherwise, if both battery and charger is working fine, then there is a problem with the charging circuit that is built-in on the laptop's mainboard.

If charger is defective, then its more practical to buy a new one instead of sending it or repair. Repaired chargers can cause more problem for you in the future.

Power Trouble

Hi!

First, you need to check the one that you got for replacement is the correct adapter for your system. If it matches with the old one, make sure that the ac adapter light (LED) is on when you plug it the wall outlet only. When you plug it in the portable and if your ac adapter LED blinks out (turns off) then the motherboard needs to be replaced or else the ac adapter is not working and needs another replacement. Call Dell and have it replaced if you just bought it.

Hope this helps!

Dell inspiron b130

check if the ac adapter or charger has a green light on it. if not, replace the charger. for dell chargers, it should have a green light to indicate that the charger is getting power from the wall outlet. if the ac adapter is good, then you might need to replace the mother board as the ac port is integrated.

hope this resolves your problem.
