If you want the i-pod to,I hope you have I-tunes software and a cable for your I-pod.

Of you don't have I-tunes, you can install i-tunes from I-tunes website

Try holding the menu button and center button at the same time. this should reset the ipod completely. Its a force power up and power down similar to Zapping your PRAM on a computer. this should reset the configurations

you can find all the ipod software online at apple.com, it's only the old ipods that came with cd's the newer ones starting form 06 i believe don't come with cds. so just check out apple.com for the software.
